“And Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God.” (Mark 11:22 NASB)
We wear religious jewelry around our necks, wrists, ears and ankles. On some people, scriptures and pictures have been tattooed on visible parts of their bodies to point to our invisible God. Cars are seen driving down the streets with license plates that have been personalized to communicate that the owner is a godly person or to indicate they belong to a certain local church. Occasionally, in these days of tapping credit cards and inserting debit cards with chips, we still pay for things with dollar bills that say, “In God we trust.” For conversational purposes, I will admit it; I wear an ancient coin, denarii, from Jesus’ time around my neck, hoping it will serve as a conversational starter and result in a personal evangelism encounter. Our homes are decorated with pictures that that show the beauty of God’s creation, the evidence of God granting creative power to some, and in some cases they are adorned with Scriptural advice. Bibles and Christian inspirational books are in several rooms of the house. Signs hang in the entry ways of homes that read, God bless you. Door knockers even relay messages such as. “Love lives here;” although sometimes the response to the knocking is met with a raised voice saying, “Who is it?”
We attend big, beautiful places of worship that speak to the greatness of God when you have those who are giver s to God who have blessed them greatly, and the large contemporary structures shout out the fact that God desires His house to be filled. On the other hand, we might attend small edifices, little church buildings that speak to the fact that our God’s presence is not dictated by the number of bricks or stones that were used to construct the building and not reserved or regulated by some square footage requirement, but rather they reveal that the Lord will bless us with His special presence even when only a few, as few as two or three, are gathered in His name to give Him the glory, worship Him in Spirit and in truth, and receive a word from heaven.
Most of the time, the aforementioned objects undoubtedly and undeniably speak to our faith in God and they create a consciousness about God that influences how we live throughout or days. All that is good, but don’t forget this simple, yet superlative message: God is the object of our faith. Therefore, let your faith in Him be on your mind and be materialized in your manner of living today. Be blessed!
“Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.” (Psalm 4:5 NKJV)
