FOR MOMMAS, MOMMA’S MOMMA & MOMMA FIGURES

Let me speak for all the children of women of faith, meaning God-fearing mommas, momma’s momma, and momma figures. We, your children are grateful for your godly features.

Your demonstration of faith could be depicted by a straight line drawn on a paper, reaching to infinity, eternity, patiently your demeanor and direction were not changed; no circumstance could affect it; not even slightly.

You put our well-being ahead of your own wants and needs. It was your unselfish love in action, that caused you to put your children first, when it came to satisfaction.

The cupboard or pantry at times was pretty much bare, but you made a feast out of whatever was there.

Truthfully, you were the parent who did not say, “Just grow up boy or grow up girl, not when we were faced with problems and challenges that were hard!” No, you listened, advised, and when we were not looking, you bowed your head and looked up to the Lord. No telling where we would be without your prayers and petitions to the Father above. We could not be where we are today without your steadfast love.

Challenges entered the doors of our home, trying to bring disturbances in many a way. Crisis arrived, but they never seemed to change your peaceful demeanor, your non-fearing disposition, and your exhibition of trust that, “come what may, it would be alright,” every single day.

No waves of affliction altered your adherence to you carrying out your caretaking responsibility. Unrelenting, unyielding, you were our excellent example of stewardship, caring for us to the best of your ability.

Because of you, church attendance was not limited to Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Mother’s Day. So, because of you, in a few hours, like every other Sunday, it will be off to worship, reverently going our way.

So on top of all the gifts you might receive in sincerity, please accept our gift of gratitude from your children, and notice it is wrapped with authenticity.

If you are looking down from heaven, I hope your soul is smiling from ear to ear. We may not be together physically, and that is something we must bear. But know that your influence remains and when it comes to our hearts, you will always be right there.

We really love the Lord, for you taught us that this needs to come first and give thanks for every blessing that comes from Glory. But second on our list of rankings of persons who made a difference, will be you, Momma; you, Momma’s Momma, or you, a Momma figure, for you will always be active in our continuing story.

May this meditation outdo any card from the store, for in comparison, the words written by people unknown, they cannot compare to the woman we have personally known. We love you! Be blessed too!

“A good woman is hard to find,
and worth far more than diamonds.
Her husband trusts her without reserve,
and never has reason to regret it.
Never spiteful, she treats him generously
    all her life long.
She shops around for the best yarns and cottons,
    and enjoys knitting and sewing.
She’s like a trading ship that sails to faraway places
    and brings back exotic surprises.
She’s up before dawn, preparing breakfast
for her family and organizing her day.
She looks over a field and buys it,
then, with money she’s put aside, plants a garden.
First thing in the morning, she dresses for work,
rolls up her sleeves, eager to get started.
She senses the worth of her work,
is in no hurry to call it quits for the day.
She’s skilled in the crafts of home and hearth,
    diligent in homemaking.
She’s quick to assist anyone in need,
reaches out to help the poor.
She doesn’t worry about her family when it snows;
their winter clothes are all mended and ready to wear.
She makes her own clothing,
and dresses in colorful linens and silks.
Her husband is greatly respected
when he deliberates with the city fathers.
She designs gowns and sells them,
brings the sweaters she knits to the dress shops.
Her clothes are well-made and elegant,
and she always faces tomorrow with a smile.
When she speaks she has something worthwhile to say,
and she always says it kindly.
She keeps an eye on everyone in her household,
and keeps them all busy and productive.
Her children respect and bless her;
her husband joins in with words of praise:
“Many women have done wonderful things,
    but you’ve outclassed them all!”
Charm can mislead and beauty soon fades.
The woman to be admired and praised
is the woman who lives in the Fear-of-God.
Give her everything she deserves!
Adorn her life with praises.” (Proverbs 31:10-31 The Message Bible)
