“The eight laws of learning are explanation, demonstration, imitation, repetition, repetition, repetition, repetition, repetition.” (John Wooden)
If you ever played organized sports at any level, when you went to practice you followed the same warm-up routine. If you were on the brain-game team, competing with students from other schools, you studied a variety of subjects to gather facts, to figure out how to solve problems, and to find the answers to anticipated questions. Those of you who loved music, not a day went by without you practicing. You can tell from the quote above how important repetition is in learning. Another quote of which I cannot identify the author says, “You are what you do and not what you say you will do.”
As Christians, there should be some repetition in regard to the things we do: study the word, pray, love the Lord our God, love one another, forgive one another, and reconcile quickly. Repetition! Repetition! Repetition! We should not forsake the assembly of the saints, always live like we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world, serve the Lord with gladness, and minister to the least of these! Let me repeat myself! Repetition! Repetition! Repetition!
We could go on with many examples, but perhaps what we should do, in regard to repetition, is expressed by Jesus in our closing verse; one of my favorite bible verses. For if we do what He says, daily, over and over again, we will not only show that we learned the ways of Christ, but we will show that we are not just what we say we are, “one of His disciples,” but in fact we will reveal to people who we are by what we do. “You are what you do!” “Repetition! Repetition! Repetition!” Share this word with others! Have a great day! Be blessed!
“And He was saying to them all, ‘If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me.’” (Luke 9:23 NASB)
