CASTING YOUR CARES ON THE LORD: TIMELESS ADVICE

“Cast your burden on the Lord [release it] and He will sustain and uphold you. He will never allow the righteous to be shaken (slip, fall, fail).” (Psalm 55:22 The Amplified Bible)

When, not if, you find yourself caught in a perfect storm of life, you need to cast your cares on the Lord. As you can tell from the opening, Old Testament Scripture and the closing New Testament scripture, casting your cares on the Lord is timeless advice.

What do perfect storms look like? When we face a trilogy of circumstances or troubling conditions that are opposing us, that’s a perfect storm. When we experience suffering, not necessarily physical, on one side, the hostility of the world toward you on the other side, and a definite feeling of being downhearted due to some form of darkness that is descending and trying to destroy your bright and light filled days, that is a perfect storm.

Perfect storms can come in many forms, but usually that’s when multiple unbearable happenings simultaneously try to subdue us. Let me quickly give three specific examples of a perfect storm.

Some of us may be going through similar perfect storms like the ones I am about to describe on this very day. For you see, there is someone who lost their job, lost a loved one, and lost their joy.  Well, that’s a perfect storm. Someone else is going through a battle with the inevitable, multiple changes that come with aging; physical changes, mental changes, and social changes.  Well, again, that’s an example of a perfect storm. There are some others who are experiencing forms of discrimination, persecution, and alienation, even in this nation. Again, that’s a perfect storm.

If time permitted, I could give many other specific, spelled-out examples, but I think you get the point. And that’s good. But do you want to know what’s better than that “good?” Don’t worry I will tell you! When you face unwanted, unexpected, undesirable, unwelcomed and uninvited circumstances or conditions, take the advice that is not new. Cast your cares on the Lord.

Look! You have Old Testament and New Testament advice that tells us that this is the thing to do. And, if we are honest about it, we have our own experiences in our walk with the Lord that proves that casting our cares on the Lord is timeless advice.

Furthermore, the advice works! Relief comes! Revival of your faith takes place! Relying on the Lord take the place of crying.  Replacing the look of grief on your face with smiles happens! Take the advice my friend and proceed with confidence, knowing that the Lord will make a way somehow.  Be blessed!

Let him have all your worries and cares, for he is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you.”  (I Peter 5:7 The Living Bible)
