“The vice-regents and governors conspired together and then went to the king and said, “King Darius, live forever! We’ve convened your vice-regents, governors, and all your leading officials, and have agreed that the king should issue the following decree: For the next thirty days no one is to pray to any god or mortal except you, O king. Anyone who disobeys will be thrown into the lions’ den. “Issue this decree, O king, and make it unconditional, as if written in stone like all the laws of the Medes and the Persians.” King Darius signed the decree. When Daniel learned that the decree had been signed and posted, he continued to pray just as he had always done. His house had windows in the upstairs that opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he knelt there in prayer, thanking and praising his God. The conspirators came and found him praying, asking God for help.” (Daniel 6: 6-11 English Standard Version)
The tension seen in on the streets of America today causes one to revisit the Civil Rights Movement and look at the lives of those who sought equality and an end to segregation and the introduction of justice and improvement in life for all. A great number of diverse people relied on and rallied around Civil Rights leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and others who were God led. But ultimately, a mass number of supporters found themselves in the church house to reach up to God to present Him praise in spite of the pitiful condition that they faced, alone with the fact that peace in the land was plainly and often painfully inseparable from their realities. Get this now! It’s important! Not only did the people praise God, but they took a knee and prayed to God. Thank God that was not a one-time occurrence. Consistently, those seeking positive change, they took a knee, again, and again.
Sometimes, the answer to our prayer takes time. Sarah waited until her old age; way pass her child-bearing years until Isaac was born. The children of Israel were in captivity for 430 years before being freed from Egyptian bondage. The Israelites waited 42 generations before the birth of our Savior. Yes, sometimes He does not come when we want Him to, but guess what? The Lord, He is still an on-time God. He is still a God who maintains that all are precious in His sight. Neither height nor weight make a difference. Dr. King would say, “You are precious in His sight. Neither color or the ability to converse like JFK, write like Shakespeare, speak like Lincoln or draw like Michelangelo make a difference, you are precious in His sight! It does not matter how you look or what kind of attire you can afford or whether you live in a mansion or a mess. You are precious in His sight.” And God’s purposes would be achieved in time and get better in time.”
That last sentence is still true and should produce some hope in your being. Yes, in the meantime, keep praising God! In the meantime, definitely keep praying! In my opinion, it is time to take a knee again.
Remember, Jesus faced a circumstance worse than what we are facing as He was nearing the time to go to Calvary and die for our sins. But as you will notice in the brief excerpt from Jesus’ High Priestly Prayer, He took a knee! We should follow His example, regardless of what is going on today. We may not be able to do some things, as legislated by law. But no one can stop us from praying. Daniel demonstrated this the truth to such a declaration in the opening verses. Read them again. Have a great day! Don’t forget to pray! Take a knee! Be blessed!
“When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.” (John 17:1-5 English Standard Version)
Committed to the climb,
Mark L. King
Let no circumstance stop us from praying🙏
Let no circumstance stop us from praying! God’s got it🙏
In one case that I am aware, taking a knew, caused one to lose his career. However, we have the freedom to take a knee. We should do that as often as we can, I only do that maybe twice a day; that’s not enough. I will keep striving for better.
