“IT’S GOOD FOR ME!”

“Before I was afflicted, I went astray, but now I keep Your word. You are good and You do good; Teach me Your statutes. The arrogant have forged a lie against me; with all my heart I will comply with Your precepts. Their heart is insensitive, like fat, but I delight in Your Law. It is good for me that I was afflicted, so that I may learn Your statutes. The Law of Your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver pieces.” (Psalm 119:67-72 NASB)

Oh yes when everything is going good and great for you, it is easy for you or me to say, “It is good for me.” When there are no difficult trials or dangerous test, or deceptive temptations or dubious diagnosis that we are facing, It is easy to say, “It is good for me.” When the car is running good or good enough; when your career is on track, and your handling of new technology is a breeze, it is east to say, “It is good for me.”

When your health is fine, your house is divine, and you can say that “My honey is all mine:” When the honors galore are bestowed on you, and happiness is more than an illusion, it is easy to say. “It is good for me.”

As we see in the passage above, there is evidence to defend my premise, that being there are certain times when, when it is quite natural to say,” It is good for me.”

However, things will not always be like you would like things to be or think they should be. But don’t get sad, be glad! For you see, The Lord will enable you to walk in the paths of His commandments anyway, strengthen through His word. You will rejoice and say, ”It’s good for me!”

Don’t you recall the times you went to His word; He moved you and He gave you perfect guidance? That’s when you said, perhaps using different words, but still meaning, “It’s good for me.” At times, God allowed you to go experience circumstances so that you would look to Him for the answer to your condition. You found it somewhere between Genesis and Revelation. Yeah, you went to Him in prayer!  Yeah, you maintained your faith in Him!  Yeah, your relied on the Holy Spirit! But you also went to His word to get the answer that could be found nowhere else. And then, once again, you ended able to say, “It’s good for me.”

My friend, if you experience a predicament that poses a persistent threat, I recommend you go to His word and be remind that God is a very present help in times of trouble, and in fact, trouble does not last always. If you have not done so, then you should, because afterward you can say, “It’s good for me.”

I want to say more, but I’m trying my best to be short. So here is my admonition for you. Make a commitment to stay in His word – even more! Be taught about His statues, His principles, and His precepts! You will end up equipped that allows you say, “It’s good for me!”  Be blessed!
