TIME MANAGEMENT IN THE WEEK AHEAD!

“Serve God by doing common actions in a heavenly spirit, and then, if your daily calling only leaves you cracks and crevices of time, fill them up with holy service.”  (Charles Spurgeon)

I just know that you are managing your time well this Sunday morning. Look at you! You deserve a Exceeds Expectation rating for being up and ready to leave early and to show up before the start of service. Praise the Lord!

I was looking for a book with a cover of a specific color Wednesday afternoon. As I searched through the house for just the right book to meet the design color scheme of a certain room, I came across a book entitled “2600 Phrases for Effective Performance REVIEWS,” written by Paul Falcone (Copyright 2005). I said to myself, “I’m sure there is something in this book to inspire a meditation.” So, I just opened it up, deciding that whatever was on the page I turned to first, randomly, well, that would be what I would write about. You saw the title, and you read the opening paragraph. So, you know what will follow, right? Yes, something related to time management

Here is my challenge to you. As you got through this new week, evaluate how you use your time in regard to being a living testimony for the Lord. Do you need to know what type of question to put on your personal performance review? I’ll be glad to give you some suggestions. For instance, you can evaluate if consistently approach your kingdom building work in a proactive fashion. You can also evaluate how well you do in keeping distractions or obstacles from getting in your way of letting your little light shine. Go further and assess how will you do in ensuring that your daily activities include some one-on-one time with God. Look with integrity how good you do as a disciple of the Lord when troublesome interruptions come, trying to get you off the straight and narrow pathway. See how you do in spending some time looking to the One who is a very present help in times of trouble.

Here are some additional things you can include in your review, presented in the form of questions. Question: Will you be able to say that I keep key information at my fingertips? Let me help you in advance with that one. That key information of which I am referring to will be found in the word of God. Question: Will I see that I spent more time asking questions, as opposed to seeking answers from our all-wise, all-knowing God? Question: Will your family and friends, the ones who are looking to see if you truly trust in the Lord, be able to tell somebody with certainty that you know that you did not just sit around, failing to make the most of your time, because they will be confident that you know and show by your patience that He may not come exactly when we want Him too, but He will show up right on time?

God bless you with your self-appraisal; your personal performance review as it relates to time management. Listen! Whatever your rating, low or extremely high, keep striving for perfection.  Therefore, you can be assured that you will achieve excellence in regard to using your time to the glory of God. Have a wonderful week, my friend! Be blessed!

“So, then, be careful how you live. Do not be unwise but wise, making the best use of your time because the times are evil.” (Ephesians 5:15-16 International Standard Version)

Committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
