MOVE OUT THE DARKNESS

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16 NKJV)

The preacher who will replace me on October 5 as Pastor of Salt Of The Earth Church in Indianapolis, used an analogy that I think is worth sharing and hopefully it is you’re the reader will find it motivating too. The analogy was centered around entering a dark room and turning on a flashlight. He indicated that the light from the flashlight did not make a sound, but once the flashlight was turned on, darkness was moved out of the way. Darkness was replaced by light.

What was he telling us? I believe he was saying that whether it is by our mere conduct, not even speaking a word, but just living out the simile that Jesus used in the opening verses above, taken from the Sermon on the Mount, and also in our interactions where we are obedient, conducting personal evangelism and witnessing to others about the light of mankind, know that you can move out darkness in the spaces and places you see a need to live out your identify as “The light of the world.”  It may be in your home, maybe in the presence of your homies, or as you present yourself  at your church home and you encounter a fellow saint or a searching souls that needs to   lifted up and out of some form of darkness, but regardless of the place or the particular situation, in this side note analogy, the preacher was letting us know that we have the ability to move out darkness. I concur!

My friend, it is time to let your light shine bright and broad!  Charge up your “flashlight” and be ready to move out the darkness! Be blessed!

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were created through Him, and without Him nothing was created that was created. In Him was life, and the life was the light of mankind. The light shines in darkness, but the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:1-5 Modern English Version)”
