“Elisha replied, “Listen to this message from the Lord! This is what the Lord says: By this time tomorrow in the markets of Samaria, six quarts of choice flour will cost only one piece of silver, and twelve quarts of barley grain will cost only one piece of silver.” The officer assisting the king said to the man of God, “That couldn’t happen even if the Lord opened the windows of heaven!” But Elisha replied, “You will see it happen with your own eyes, but you won’t be able to eat any of it!” (2 Kings 7:1-2 NLT)
Here is warning for you to acknowledge before you go to worship service tomorrow! Yes, I’m sure you are going. The warning, harvested from the passages above and below, is simply, “Faith has its rewards. But a lack of faith will keep us from benefiting from the promises.” Meditate on that before you enter the message the Lord will send to you tomorrow. Will you respond to the specific word sent by God’s specific messenger, or will you be like the officer assisting the king?
I’ll repeat the point: “Faith has its rewards. But a lack of faith will keep us from benefiting from the promises.” Now, get all you have to do on this Saturday out of the way early enough that you will be rested and ready to receive a word from the Lord Sunday! If you have time, read the verses in between the ones I have provided you. Get the rest of the story! Smile! Be blessed!
“The king appointed his officer to control the traffic at the gate, but he was knocked down and trampled to death as the people rushed out. So everything happened exactly as the man of God had predicted when the king came to his house. The man of God had said to the king, “By this time tomorrow in the markets of Samaria, six quarts of choice flour will cost one piece of silver, and twelve quarts of barley grain will cost one piece of silver.”The king’s officer had replied, “That couldn’t happen even if the Lord opened the windows of heaven!” And the man of God had said, “You will see it happen with your own eyes, but you won’t be able to eat any of it!” And so it was, for the people trampled him to death at the gate!” (2 Kings 7:17-20 NLT)
Committed to the climb,
Mark L. King
This is a great reminder about faith. I read the verses in between the opepning and closing scriptures used in your meditation. It completed the story on faith and brought the point to life.
Thank you, Gloria! I admire your love for the word of God!
