SERIOUSLY

And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21 New King James Version)

To be truthful, with a few rare exceptions, I have not heard many people talking about the Advent Season this year. Visually I see homes decorated with Christmas décor, and the first thing you see when you entire the door of the retail store are all kinds of holiday wear, and as you progress through the facility, yes, you see more. Many movies are being aired about Christmas romances and holiday fictional happenings, but I have not heard many people talking about Advent.

People are talking about how much things cost or speaking about how much money they have lost. But nobody is chattering about the free gift of salvation, something that can be gained by grace through faith in the One who took on all the cost on an old, rugged cross. There is a lot of chatter about all kinds of Christmas things, but I have not heard much ranting about the coming of the Redeemer, Jesus the Christ. I have not heard many people talking about Advent.

Maybe this morning, a Sunday morning, the Lord’s Day, the second Sunday in December, just maybe a reminder is in order. Maybe we should try to move you to focus on the greatest gift ever, the telling of a love story emanating in heaven; some true happenings that did not happen by happenstance. Maybe I will change your mindset, affect you in such a way that instead of thinking of what you will wear on Christmas morning, and just perhaps you will start focusing on the One who came as a child, took on flesh and dwelt among us. Add to you thinking, He is the One of whom we can look forward to His returning.

So, at the start of this meditation and at the closing, I have presented you with some scriptures to help awaken your hearts to the point you understand the words in the seasonal hymn that fist anytime of the year, “Joy to the world, the Lord has come.”

If what I have sent you has no impact on your heart, there is only a one word, one serious question that I must ask, “Seriously?”  Be blessed!

“For to us a Child shall be born, to us a Son shall be given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. There shall be no end to the increase of His government and of peace, [He shall rule] on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
to establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness from that time forward and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.” (Isaiah 9:6-7 The Amplified Bible)

Committed to the climb,

  1. There should have been more awareness and proclamation to the birth of our Savior. The thought of what to buy for family members has taken front and center stage. Seriously! The fact that we may pray to Him everyday, and more than once in a day, does not excuse us from proclaiming that He is our Savior and His birth should be recognized. Thank you for presenting scriptures to help awaken our hearts. We should be hailing, “Joy to the world, the Lord has come.”
