AGE DOES NOT MATTER

“The Lord had said to Abram, ‘Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.’I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.’So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran. He took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had acquired in Harran, and they set out for the land of Canaan, and they arrived there.” (Genesis 12:1-4 New International Version)

Read the opening and closing passages. Now, before you get to moving around on this Saturday morning, take a moment and think about what these extracts from God’s word is saying to you. As you ponder, think about the title above, “Age Does Not Matter.”  That’s right! You can be a seasoned senior, a young boy or girl, or anywhere in between. Regardless of your age, God is sending this message specifically to you. Therefore, before you stop pondering, ask yourself two pertinent questions: (1) Is the Lord calling me, either to get my attention or to move me to attending to something by faith? (2) Am I willingly, attentively, and submissively listening? Have a safe Saturday! Be blessed!

“The boy Samuel ministered before the Lord under Eli. In those days the word of the Lord was rare; there were not many visions. One night Eli, whose eyes were becoming so weak that he could barely see, was lying down in his usual place. The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the house of the Lord, where the ark of God was. Then the Lord called Samuel. Samuel answered, ‘Here I am.’ And he ran to Eli and said, ‘Here I am; you called me.’ But Eli said, ‘I did not call; go back and lie down.” So, he went and lay down. Again, the Lord called, ‘Samuel!’ And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, ‘Here I am; you called me.’  ‘My son,’ Eli said, ‘I did not call; go back and lie down.’ Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord: The word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him. A third time the Lord called, ‘Samuel!’ And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, ‘Here I am; you called me.’ Then Eli realized that the Lord was calling the boy. So Eli told Samuel, ‘Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’ So, Samuel went and lay down in his place. The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, ‘Samuel! Samuel!’ Then Samuel said, ‘Speak, for your servant is listening.’” (I Samuele 3:1-10 NIV)
