“Your Father knows what you need even before you ask.” (Matthew 6:8 Contemporary English Version
It’s a cold and snowy day in a large portion of the continental United States. Of course, it is not just a snowy day, but it’s Sunday, the Lord’s Day. It’s the day where the saints of God assemble together. The problem on this particular Sunday is the frigid, sub-zero weather, accompanied by several inches of snow, conditions have us asking, “How am I going to enjoy church this morning?” Well, I might be wrong, but it seems that God knew what we would need before we even asked. How did He know? Maybe I’m wrong, but wasn’t it God who gifted someone to come up with the technology to enable local churches to provide virtual services? Again, I may be wrong, but don’t you suspect that somebody or a lot of somebodies have been praying that they would be able to get to church today and that the forecast predicted by very skilled meteorologist would misjudge how bad the weather would really get? Say, these words again, “God already knew!”
Yes, God being God, in my opinion, He knew that we would be asking for a way to get to church and hear a word today. The answer He had known, being all-knowing; the answer He knew long ago, ages before the invention of Internet was simple. Let me use my spiritual imagination and hear His voice saying, “You can still attend church virtually!”
Therefore, check the time of your church’s service and tune in, and one more thing. Be on time. Next week you can resume, Lord willing, your regular routine, a routine that is wrapped with genuine purpose, of entering His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Look, you might not be able to open your window and turn to the place where God’s words came to His people like old Daniel did, but you can turn on your computer and turn on the site to be virtually in the you place of worship. You know by now that this is where God has a specific message, specifically for you, for a specific purpose.
It may be cold outside, but warm your soul, heat up your voice to give praise, and feel the comforting warmth that you can gain by tuning in virtually this week. You see, the pandemic did add to our toolbox the opportunity, skills, and practice of worshipping with the saints in spite of snow, ice, blizzard, hazardous roads, and howling winds. Go enjoy service! Think about this truth. People spend hours watching everything else and connecting with others via some social media platform and they do it without complaint. So, how could anybody not choose to gladly be in service virtually today, Sunday, a day the Lord blessed us to see? Hmmm? What else can I say? Oh, I know! Be blessed!
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28 NASB)
