REVIEW YOUR JOB DESCRIPTION

“God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that [moves on the earth.” (Genesis 1:28 NASB)

In the Edenic Covenant, God gave man his job description. It was specific, straightforward, and yet simple. Man was expected to live up each duty described in that multi-faceted job description that God communicated.

You too have a multi-faceted job description! Have you reviewed it lately? Well, in case you haven’t let me share some highlights of what it contains. The Lord expects you to live up to each of these duties!

  1. Love the Lord your God and your neighbor as yourself.
  2. Love one another, so that others will know you are one of Jesus’ disciples.
  3. Be the salt of the earth.
  4. Be the light of the world.
  5. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.
  6. Do good.
  7. Forgive others.
  8. Reconcile quickly.
  9. Remember the least of these.
  10. Pray for everybody.
  11. Pray often.
  12. Confess your sins.
  13. Trust in the Lord and lean not on your own understanding.
  14. Honor your mother and your father.
  15. Wait on the Lord but remember to work while you wait.
  16. Make perfect progress, striving for perfection and achieving excellence.
  17. Keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith.
  18. Walk in the Spirit.
  19. Live on every word that comes out of the mouth of God.
  20. Study to show thyself approved.
  21. Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
  22. Live up to your word, referring to when you say, “It’s no longer I, but the Christ that lives in me.”
  23. Remember your identity: A member of a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a person for God’s own possession.
  24. Go ye therefore and make disciples.
  25. Once you have recruited new converts, retain them by teaching the whatsoever Jesus commanded us.
  26. Don’t forsake the assembly of the saints.
  27. Teach your children.
  28. Stay on the narrow path of righteousness.
  29. Lay your burdens down, casting all your cares on Him for He lives you.
  30. To do all this and more that the Lord has described in your job description, pray some more.

Well, I think by reviewing the duties in your job description, I have helped ensure, at least to some degree, that today you will be more God-conscious and Christ-centered. God to work now! Be blessed!

Committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
