EARLY SUNDAY MORNING

“But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law;but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord. (I Corinthians 15:54-58 NASB)

Good morning! This is your Sunday Share meditation. Wherever you attended church, in person or virtually, this past Sunday, you heard a sermon that definitely included the fact that we serve a risen Savior. Hallelujah! Truthfully, all good preaching should lead to the cross and Jesus’ victory over death on every occasion that the word is preached. But this past Sunday was Resurrection Morning, so I am certain that you heard some good preaching. I’m sure you heard these words, “He got up, early Sunday morning!”

Pastor M.R. King preached a sermon entitled “Everything Has Changed” at our church last Sunday. You can listen to it, as always, in its entirety on the Salt Of The Earth (Indianapolis) Facebook or YouTube sites. Pastor really reinforced several benefits derived from the fact the “He got up, early Sunday morning.” to increase our joy about the fact that Jesus got up, by repeating the phrase multiple times throughout the message God put on his heart. I’m sure it resonated clearly in the minds of all listeners. Now, if you listen to it, it will do the same for you. But just in case you don’t, let me share three points that Pastor made Sunday. All of them can be found “in the text.”

(1) Because He got up early Sunday morning, your position was changed. (2) Because He got up early Sunday morning, your power was changed. I remember a side note that let us know that if He got up with all power, then we really have no power. Therefore, we need to depend on His power. Amen! (3) Because He got up early Sunday morning, your destiny was changed! Believer, before He got up, we could not reconcile with God!  We could not be justified! We would still be separated from God! Hell would have been our eternal destination instead of Heaven!  But thank God, “He got up early Sunday morning!”  Another note worth sharing, related to this point was that “Because He got up early Sunday morning, the description describing our destiny did not end with a period, but rather, it ended with a comma. “All sin and fall short of the glory of God. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” Did you see the comma. That’s not just a punctuation change but it is a perpetual, personal change that goes on through an eternity with the Lord.
