A GREAT START

“Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what are we to do?”Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far away, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.” And with many other words he solemnly testified and kept on urging them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation!” So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls. They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles.” (Acts 2:37-43 NASB)

This is your Sunday Share meditation. Remember now, I am trying to impress on you the value of taking notes on Sunday and reviewing what the sent message conveyed on Sunday. I might add that when you do this, you will evade being one of the congregants who go away with the word, but one of the enemies of God’s people, either Satan, self, or the secular world, will snatch it from your remembrance. Taking notes will help you hide the word in your heart. If you are familiar with Psalm 119:11, you know that I am right about it. If you don’t know that verse, look it up!

Dr. H.C. King spoke this past Sunday on “A Great Start,” the second in a four-part series on “The Jesus Franchise.” He pointed out that in the beginning, unlike business franchises in the secular world, we, Christians, became part of the Jesus Christ without a payment. No payment? Right!  No payment! No fee! You see, Jesus paid for our franchise on Calvary. Dr. King pointed out that “The Jesus Franchise,” thank God, operates world-wide. It certainly should be operating wherever you go. Nod in agreement of say, “Amen!”

If you go to the Salt Of The Earth (Indianapolis) Facebook or YouTube page, you can hear the message in its entirety. From the text, you will see Dr. King pull out “The Question” and “The Answer.”  You will also hear an analogy referring to the governor on bumper cars. The analogy allowed him to point out emphatically that the Holy Spirit, praise God, is our Governor. He pointed out some “Great Benefits,” again taken from the text, for those who are in “The Jesus Franchise.”

Before taking his seat, Dr. King announced that it is always, let me paraphrase, “Open Enrollment” for those who want to be part of ‘The Jesus Franchise.” Our Senior, Pastor M.R. King made a smooth transition as he extended invitation. Let me reiterate the invitation, if you need to be saved from the penalty of sin, come to Jesus. If you need to be saved from the power of sin, come to Jesus. If you need to be saved from the presence of sin for an eternity, come to Jesus.

Before you get going to the next thing that you have to do this morning, read the quote below. Have a great start to you day and enough heart to finish the race, one that has to be ran for the rest of your life. Say it out loud, “I’m running for Jesus!” Love you, my friend! Be blessed!

”Have enough courage to start and enough heart to finish.”(Quote by Jessica S. Yourko)

Committed to the climb,

Mark L. King

  1. Having the courage to start a relationship with God the Father is an urgent matter. Also, having the sense of urgency and the heart to go all the way, to stay in the race, will be beneficial. He will one day say, “well done, my good and faithful servant”.

    1. Thanks for your response! Be courageous1 You started a relationship with the Lord long ago. I sense that you feel a continuation is a matter of urgency. Keep running the race in such a way that you can hear the Lord’s words, “Well done, Gloria!” Be blessed!
