FASHION ADVICE & FAITH ADVICE

“But if you look closely into the perfect law that sets people free, and keep on paying attention to it and do not simply listen and then forget it, but put it into practice—you will be blessed by God in what you do.” (James 1:25 Good News Translation)

Based on my own personal experience, as opposed to any formal training in fashion design, I feel In can offer good some advice.  I can, in spite that I don’t subscribe to any magazines that suggest what is in style these days, publications that reveal some riveting, wild, eclectic ensembles, offer some good advice.  As a side not, I have looked at a few of the publication in the magazine section at the local drugstore and I will admit that is amazing how designers or models are able to coordinate various patterns, textures, and colors, as well as how they make the unmatchable look matchable.  Perhaps, possibly, well probably that has had some influence on how I dress on some days.  However, it just might be some other factors that influences my (and yours too) clothing choices.  It could be at the present time, the pandemic and the prevailing lackadaisical habits of dressing that are fostered by arriving at the conclusion that nobody cares, or nobody knows who you are anyway hidden behind the masks we wear. But still the influencer could be some feeling of being privileged by age and the corresponding attitude, “I’ll wear what I want to wear.”  I can really identify with all of that as I get older.  Yet, my fashion advise is really simple: Look in the mirror before you leave the house.  This will enable you to correct what you initially thought was looking good, but in fact was not, before you even leave your room. My advice for fashion, look in the mirror and changes as deemed appropriate, as dictated as a necessary thing to do by what you see in the mirror.  That’s my fashion advice.  Hold up now!  Don’t waste time snapping your fingers.  Read on and get some faith advice.

My faith advice is pretty much the same: Look in the mirror and then make the necessary adjustments! Now while I have not studied fashion, I am a student of things related to faith.  I do subscribe to a publication that will make sure that I see myself as I am and discover even the smallest flaw in living up to my label of being a follower of Christ.  Yes, I subscribe to the Word of God, and when I look in it, the truth it exposes me to helps me present myself in an appropriate way, matching the Divine principles to the best of my ability on any given day.  Yes, there is always room for improvement when it comes to styling as one of the serious saints, believers; one who continues in this present life to make perfect progress.  The Word of God is my mirror.  When I look into it with eyes, looking to see and listening with ears to hear and receiving with a heart to believer, I can come away looking better. The heart is important because God sees not as a man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.  That’s Bible friend (I Samuel 16:7b).  When I look in the mirror, I can choose to make the adjustments I need to make to step out to model the Christ that actually does dwell in me.

As far as fashion, you be the judge,  As far as faith in action, look in the mirror and don’t just look at it, but make the necessary changes you need to make.  I will do likewise. Have a good Thursday!  You will be looking good all day!  I’m sure of it!  Be blessed!

“For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.” (James 1:23-24 NASB)

Still committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
