“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. (Galatians 6:10 NKJVB)
Monday night I attended a Zoom birthday for my aunt who turned 90 years old. On my PC screen it showed that there were nearly 90 well-wishers who attended. This virtual celebration, well deserved, lasted about 90 minutes. The accolades were amazing, fitting for an amazing woman who has inspired many to greatness, mentored others to become master mentors themselves. She still exemplifies unselfishness, caring more for others than herself. She loves her family, which extends beyond blood lines, and reaches to a diverse group of people worldwide. Her fame is second place only to her humble, sacrificial, and compassionate character. Her honors continue to amass. She has received nationwide recognition. Her awards will fill rooms and stir up one’s heart. However, know that the help she has given to others will outlast the impact in her days on earth. Attendees stated they were looking forward to her 95th and even 100th birthday celebration. When the next celebration comes, it will still be filled with the goodness, a reflection of her life. Her goodness will outlive her longevity which we hope continues for years to come.
As impressed as I was in hearing all the commendations, kudos, and compliments, that included proclamations from a Senator and a Mayor, I was even more impressed by her closing remarks. She said, “Every day I strive to do something good for somebody.” That type of consciousness, focusing on doing good, has to be prompted by a God-consciousness. And you want to know something, she does not just strive to do something good, she accomplishes good! Her example is worth sharing with you. Perhaps you can share the same goal and set out to do something good for somebody every day that the Lord blesses you to see.
Thanks to my aunt to her example. And thanks to God for His enduring Spirit that keeps her energetically moving and educating others with a living lesson, not by mere words, but by her many, good deeds.
Now, what are you going to do today? Are you going to do something good for someone without complaint and without concern about what others do for you? Can you be like my aunt and sustain it until your nineties? Let’s try, okay? Have a great Wednesday! Be blessed!
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16 ESV)
Still committed to the climb,
