I CAN’T EXPLAIN WHY

“Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go…” (Genesis 28:15a NASB)

Wednesday morning, after doing my early morning work, starting at 2:50 a.m. and stopping at 5:30 a.m., I laid back down for an hour nap.  Towards the end of the nap, I had a dream where I was center stage, performing an electronic keyboard performance in a packed auditorium.  After being introduced, I told the audience that I was going to play the first song I learned to play when I went, involuntarily, to piano lessons on Saturday mornings prior to the 5th grade.  The song was made up of five consecutive notes starting with the key of C, “I will win a  cup.”  At piano lessons, we played it repetitively, both ways, forward and backward with the same words, “I will win a cup.” “I will win a cup.”  In my early morning dream, after announcing my intent, when I put my hand to the keyboard, I started playing like I was some piano virtuoso.  I saw my hands moving as if I were one of the greats.  I could almost feel my hands playing the notes on my leg as I lay in the bed.  The song was, “You Can Make It.”

Now I don’t know why that happened in my dream.  I can only guess.  Perhaps it was because Tuesday evening I had attended a special event with my wife at the Indianapolis Public Library where there was a celebration of Bicentennials for the Mexican Independence Day and the establishment of Indianapolis as the capitol of Indiana.  Perchance it was because I had received a phone call from a friend who unexpectedly became one of the latest unemployment statistics, less than a week before her wedding.  Possibly it was because a person I have known since her early primary years to her adult years where she is in a prominent position at a state university sent me a prayer, a strong prayer, a prayer that brought me into the presence of the Lord at His throne.  It was that powerful.  The primary petition of the prayer was for the healing of my vocal cords that have been strained for a couple of months.  I believe God heard her prayer.  For as the day went on, I was moved to know that with the help of the Lord, I can make it!  Somebody say aloud, wherever you are, “Praise the Lord!”  Still uncertain about the purpose of the dream, it came to my attention that you, yes YOU personally, might benefit from this song.  So I will share the words by artist Betty Griffin-Keller with you!  It is one of my favorites.

“You can make it, you can make it,

this trial that you’re going through,

God’s going to show you what to do.”

You can make it, you can make it;

I don’t care what’s going wrong,

God won’t let it last too long,

you’re not in this thing alone,

you can make it.”

If you feel better after reading these words or if you know the song and you sang it personally, or possibly you just looked it up on the Internet and played it, you ought to praise God one more time; no praise Him more than once.  Keep this mentality alive today!  The Lord is with you!  No matter what is going on; no matter what you face that you would rather not face, remember with the Lord, you can make it!  Shout a word of praise again!  Be blessed!

“The Lord is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you.  He will not fail you or forsake you.  Do not fear or be dismayed.” (Deuteronomy 31:8 NASB)

Still committed to the climb,
