SOAK

“When the ground soaks up the falling rain and bears a good crop for the farmer, it has God’s blessing.” (Hebrews 6:7 NLT)

I won’t send this meditation out until 12:01 EST.  But know that I started writing it at 11:00 a.m.  You might ask, “Why in the world are you up so early Mark King?”  I asked the same question.  At first, I thought it was because when I turned the TV off in the bedroom and was told no more talking at 9:00 a.m., I should have gone to the bathroom one more time as I usually do so I could get five hours of sleep.  Then I thought, maybe it was the math, you know where I do some addition, arriving at the sum of the hours of sleep and the “bedtime rest.”  My addition came up to about four hours of sleep.  Perhaps, I thought at first, that it was a combination of those two reasons,  That’s what I suspected, but I was all wrong.

You see one of the last things I did before falling to sleep was to admit to the Lord that I had nothing in mind to write for the September 20, meditation.  I asked Him to please inspire me.  God does answer prayer.  The answer from the Lord came to me as I was ready to leave the bathroom.  Washing my hands and at the same time looking in the mirror, I noticed two wall hangings, appropriate for the bathroom.  One said, “When all else fails, take a bubble bath.”  At first, I said, “The Lord wants me to reinforce Sunday’s sermon, “God Never Fails.”  But that was not the “aha” moment that the Lord was giving me to answer my prayer.  I kept looking in the mirror, and the second wall hanging stood out in a direct, definite, and distinctive way.  It simply said, “Soak.”  It was at that moment that I knew what the Lord wanted me to write for this Monday morning.

Soak in the fact that God has been good to you this morning.  Soak in the fact that as you go through the day, there is nothing that you and God cannot handle.  Soak in all your blessing, too numerous to name and too impossible to list them one by one.  Soak in praise and thanksgiving!  Your key word today is “Soak.”

Look at the verse above and be reminded that sometimes our lives are filled with sunlight, bright, and the light of the sun is not hidden from view.  At other times we will experience rainy days; days where the symbolic and ominous clouds fill the sky, and figurative drops of rain such as difficulties, disappointments, and dejection keep falling on your personal ground called “life.”  Well, even if that be the case; even if problems prevail; even if your faith is tested by your circumstances, your word for the day is still “Soak.”  Keep loving the Lord and remember that verse below, a Scripture that lets you know that in the case of those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose, everything will work out for good.  Good?  Yes, good!  Yes, you will develop some strength!  Yes, your faith will be bolstered!  Yes, you will learn at a new level how to trust in God through it all, and your faith will be increased!  Stay God conscious today my friend and “Soak.”  The falling rain will produce a good crop, and it will have God’s blessing!

“Soak” this morning!  You will feel so much better, and your outlook will be so much more positive.  Be blessed!

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” (Romans 8:28 NLT)

Still committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
