“Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.” (Psalm 119:11 KJV)
About mid-morning yesterday, I was looking through the old venetian blinds that have adorned the same window for at least 31-years. It is the big window in what was once one of my children’s bedrooms, but it is now an office/den, or when guest come, the preferred “TV room.” Realizing that these blinds have been in place for over three decades, I was obviously impressed by their durability and sturdy construction. Finally, the sunshine caught my eyes, for it has been cloudy, dreary and snowy for the last few days. The sun not only brightened up the day, but it brightened my demeanor.
I continue staring out the window and the tree that is directly in front of me, caught my attention. It is an evergreen tree that never changes regardless of the season. The branches protected the ground from the snow, as evident by a perfect green circle of grass that surrounds the base of the tree. All of a sudden, my observations of the obvious stopped and my thoughts turned to what I had omitted to consider, left out being God-conscious. It was at that time that I thought about the following excerpt from Psalm 1 (NASB).
“Blessed is the person who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the Law of the Lord, and on His Law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers.”
Here is where your part comes in. For you see these daily meditations are not for just your reading pleasure. They are intended to cause you to take the next step and actually meditate on what you read and let the Holy Spirit make it applicable to your life.
Look at what happened to me when I made it applicable. I went from staring out the window to a prosperity lesson. For clarity, I did not think that I was going to be rich, and I did not think my day would be with out repeated efforts to move me from my purpose, but I did come away with the thought that I shall not be moved, be like a tree planted by the waters, and I concluded that I would not only sustain t spiritual status, but I would grow like the evergreen, regardless of the season, regardless of what I would face during the hours of the day and every day thereafter. What about my prosperity? Well, I came away with an increased determination to be steadfast. Thinking further about the circle around the evergreen tree, I was blessed with thought of how I could help protect those near me, just as the Lord shelters us under His wings.
That was my prosperity lesson. Now, stop what you are doing, and look just outside your window. Let creation impress you from a God-conscious perspective. See how God will speak to you regarding prospering in your life. It’s Saturday! You have time! Enjoy the next step after reading this meditation. Afterwards, write a reminder and put it somewhere, a reminder that says, “Tomorrow! Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise!” Have a prosperous Saturday and an uplifting Sunday! Be blessed!
“For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse…” (Romans 1:20 NKJV)
Still committed to the climb,
