“No matter how high I get, I will still be looking up to You!” (Lyrics by Luther Barnes)
When I entered the field of Human Resources, I started as a HR Representative, moved up to a HR Specialist, advanced through the managerial ranks, and at one point reported to the company President. Oh, by the way, I also turned down an offer to move into a corporate position where I would oversee multiple company locations across the United States. But guess what? God was still higher than me on the organization chart that includes the earthly realm and heaven.
In my education branch of my career, I started as a teacher, and after a short time moved to the university as an Assistant to the Dean, my ascending in the field of education did not stop there. I taught as an Adjunct Professor from 1998-2015, and one year, I was named the Outstanding Associate Faculty Award. But guess what, once again? Yes, the answer is the same, God was still higher than me on the organization chart that includes the earthly realm and heaven.
I’m trying to give you advice for when you ascend higher. As a minister I went from an associate minister to a Senior Pastor, from having no theology related degreed to earning, with straight A’s, a Th.D. Guess what? God was still higher than me on the organization chart that includes the earthly realm and heaven.
One more! After accepting Christ on August 11, 1961, and becoming a believer and a member of a local church. I moved up spiritually to finally being an active disciple, determined to stay on the battlefield until I die. Yet again, not letting pride get the best of me, as was the case in the aforementioned highlights of my life, I remained humble, realizing God was still higher than me on the organization chart that includes the earthly realm and heaven.
Whenever you ascended higher in life, drop the “I” and the “My” and keep your eye on the One of who we say, “My Heavenly Father Watches Me.” And go further then abandoning thinking you are all that, friend. But acknowledge God is Sovereign, and then act accordingly, fulfilling the purpose He has for you.
When you need advice, need direction, need to reach what Momma called “Better,” just look up the one who is higher than you. Remember, God IS still higher than you on the organization chart that includes the earthly realm and the heaven,
Have a wonderful day! Be blessed!
“All of this happened to Nebuchadnezzar the king. Twelve months later he was walking on the roof of the royal palace of Babylon. The king began speaking and was saying, ‘Is this not Babylon the great, which I myself have built as a royal residence by the might of my power and for the honor of my majesty?’ While the word was still in the king’s mouth, a voice came from heaven, saying, ‘King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is declared: sovereignty has been removed from you, and you will be driven away from mankind, and your dwelling place will be with the animals of the field. You will be given grass to eat like cattle, and seven periods of time will pass over you until you recognize that the Most High is ruler over the realm of mankind and bestows it on whomever He wishes.” (Daniel 4:28-32 NASB)
Committed to the climb,
Mark L. King
The reminder is a good one. Looking higher is essential knowing that I can do nothing without my Heavenly Father Who watches over me.

Amen Dr. King! We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
