BE PREPARED

“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore, the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.” (Exodus 20:8-11 NIV)

Today is your day of preparation, just as it was on the day before the Sabbath in Old Testament times. Use this day you have been blessed to see to be prepared. Get all your chores done today.  Do all your Christmas shopping today. If you must work, call your boss and see if there is any way that you can have a couple of hours to go to worship service on Sunday and make up your hours later. Run all your errands.  Get your weekly shopping done. If you go out for the purpose of being entertained, come home early enough so you will not let a lack of sleep keep you from going to church and keep you from being edified today. Tomorrow is our Day of Worship, so, be prepared. And let me add, if you belong to a church that worships on Saturday, I am not going to debate or argue with your choice, but while this meditation is too late for preparation for this week’s service at your church, remember to follow this advice when next Friday rolls around. Be prepared.

For the vast majority of us reading this, tomorrow, Sunday, the Lord’s Day, you will come into His house, the Lord’s house, ready to worship Him in Spirit and in truth.  You will come ready to being in the special presence of the Lord.  You will come laying aside all your worries and cares, come preventing issues from impairing your insistence to hear a specific, sent word from the Lord.  So, today make it your day of preparation, as in times of old.  Be prepared!

Yes, excuses will come like an explosion or an excessive flood of temptations to eradicate your being in the house of the Lord tomorrow.  I suggest that you counter each one of those enticements, whether they are external or internal, and comply with the commandment, the tenet of the Lord that tells you to make tomorrow a holy day.  Make sure you are in the presence of the saints. Meet God’s expectation by canceling the excuses.

Friend, take this meditation as a private message, but because everyone needs to work on their spiritual maturity, please make sure that you share today’s meditation with others in your house, even your out-of-town visitors, so that they too will be prepared.

Your preparation will be rewarded, for after you enter the house of worship tomorrow, you will return home better that when you entered the church house.  See if I am not right.  On the first day of the week, come and experience the peace that only the Lord can give you!  But first, be prepared. May the Lord give you, His peace. Be blessed!

“So, when it was evening on that same day, the first day of the week, though the disciples were [meeting] behind barred doors for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them, and said, “Peace to you.” (John 20:19 The Amplified Bible)
