BE YE LIFTED UP!

“…my cup brims with blessing.” (Psalm 23:5b The Message Bible)

There is a song that the outstanding choir occasionally sings at our church, but it is one of those songs that you could listen to often and feel the exact same way as you did the first time you heard it, overwhelmed with joy, and lifted up.  The song is entitled, “I Wanna Say Thank You.”  While the composer of the original song escapes my memory, I clearly remember some of the words.  Check them out!

If I never live another day

If I never see another smiling face

If I never breathe another breathe or take

Another step I want to say Thank you!

If I never hear what’s to be heard

If I never speak another word

If I never see another sight or taste another bite

I want to say Thank You!

Thank you for all you have done thus far!

Thank you for being the God that you are!

Thank you for the food on the table, I know that
You are able, I wanna say Thank You!

The last time I listened to this song, it brought back memories of what one seasoned saint, a soldier who had been on the battlefield for a long time, a steadfast believer said to me from their sick bed.  This child of God changed my perspective on life with these words, “Son, not only do I look at this day as a blessing to behold and a blessing to be included in the land of the living, but if I never see another day, the Lord has blessed me in bountiful ways over all my years, blessed me with deliverance from the grips of death before, actually delivered me more than once,” and sounding like David, this saint said, “My youthful days, chronologically speaking, they gone by and now, as I am seen as one of the elderly, the truth is, the Lord has never left me or forsaken me.”  That was moving and those amazing words, that awesome testimony, made me look back over my own life of nearly three-fourths of a century with thanksgiving for all, “all” being a word that really does not say it all, all that the Lord has done for me.  Furthermore, this saint’s sincere words put a screeching halt to my simply praying for days ahead, yes, stopped me in my tracks and had me realize that if I never see another day, the Lord has blessed me enough already!  I was lifted up!

This morning, as you pray, as you have your personal dialogue with the Lord, tell Him how thankful you are for the blessings, blessings to many to count, that you have already received!  Take a time out from pleading for “this” and petitioning the Lord for “that,” and instead praise Him for all He has already done for you in your life!  You will have an incredible sensation of joy and find yourself knowing the true meaning of “blessed assurance” that if, If, you never see another tomorrow, you will realize what the Lord has already done for you, including making it possible for you to have a heavenly home to fly away to on glad morning!  Friend, be ye lifted up by what the Lord has already done, and appropriately borrow some words from David yourself, “My cup runneth over!”  That’s how much He has blessed you!

Wake up!  Be grateful!  Be thankful!  Face today with much appreciation for what the Lord has already done!  Be lifted up!

Now, I pray that He is not done with you yet but have the same feeling that the seasoned saint mentioned above shared with me.  Praise God for today, but realize if He never blesses you beyond this very moment, He has already interceded in your life so much that if you had a thousand tongues, you just could not tell it all!  Be joyful as you reflect on your life!  Have a fantastic, faith-filled Saturday!  Be ye lifted up!  Be blessed!

How blessed the people who have God for God!” (Psalm 144:15 The Message Bible)

Still committed to the climb,
