“Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you…” (Psalm 50:15a NLT)”
When I start on a home project or should I say when I struggle to assemble or disassemble anything, small or big, I hear the boisterous voices of various members of my family: “Better call Raphael!” “Raphael could fix it. He is good at figuring out things.” I continue on my own, self- determined, or better expressed, stubborn, obstinate, yet confident and convinced that I can get the job done alone. Still, I find myself rejecting the suggestion to call my son. If I seem stumped, staring at the instructions as if they are written in a foreign language, and appearing to be stuck in a struggling endeavor, I am quickly surrounded by an encore, an ensuing, repeated rendition of the recommendation, spoken in a phrase where the punctuation mark at the end of the sentence indicating an exclamation was deemed to be appropriate, “Better call Raphael!”
Eventually, due to my frustration, combined with acknowledging my failing, accepting my lack of technical skills needed at that time, I call Raphael. I don’t like to disturb him. Afterall, he has family, church, and work obligations, and others are always calling on Raphael. But when I do call, glory to God, he answers! With his help the task goes from complicated to simple, moves from being a time robber to a time saver, and no longer is it a problem, but rather a problem solved.
Thank God that I don’t have any stubbornness when I find myself in trouble from a sanctification perspective, or when I am facing a strong life challenge that is either a test or a trial, or when I encounter a circumstance where I really don’t know how to get it resolved right. Thank God that I can call on Him! Thank God that I don’t need anyone to tell me, “Better Call God,” when I need rescued one way or the other!
Do you feel the same way? Most like you do. But if not, you needed to hear these words, for they will come in handy in the future and you will you need to depend on God, when you need expert assistance, when you need divine intervention. Note: God is an all-knowing God and He can handle whatever you need Him to help you with. Nothing is impossible with Him. The words to speak to yourself, “Better Call the Lord!” And after He answers you, give Him the glory that He is due! Have a great day! Be blessed!
“…and you will give me glory.” (Psalm 50:15b NLT)
