BLACK & WHITE

It’s Saturday morning!  Let’s see how I do with my plan to keep the meditation short the day before Sunday; the day we assemble to worship.  I will do my best, but that is just my goal in terms of content, but as I write I must be led by God’s intent.  His intent dictates the length of the content.  After all, He is God.

I have a black & white piece of décor that sits on the desk in the master bedroom.  It is a solid black cube with carved words painted in white on each of its six sides.  The words are Laugh, Pray, Live, Believe, Love, and Blessed.  Every morning my wife changes the positioning of the cube, apparently in tune with what we will need to focus on during that specific day of the week.  Every time you enter the room, you will see her cube handiwork; a way of displaying a one-word message.  If this is her meditation technique, so be it.  It is a simpler, speedier, and shorter method than my daily writing efforts.  Make a comparison.  Consider this observation.  By the first of the year, she will have changed the cube message 365 days a year for the last four years.  Over that same period I will have written over 1,022,000 words of meditation content.  Both techniques serve their purpose.

The black and white cube has meaningful messages, suggestions to help manage the day and manifest our faith in action.  Yet, on this day, I will refer to another object in black and white; the Bible with its white pages and black print.  Furthermore, I will pull out Scriptures for you to meditate on using the same words on the black and white cube on my desk.  (Now if the content is too long, remember it is the Lord who controls the intent or intended purpose to make it plain.)  Let’s take a look, meditating on each associated verse.

LAUGH: “Then our mouth was filled with laughter and our tongue with joyful shouting; then they said among the nations,  “The Lord has done great things for them.” (Psalm 126:2 NASB)

LOVE: “We know that we have passed out of death into Life, because we love the brothers and sisters. He who does not love remains in [spiritual] death.” (John 3:14 The Amplified Bible)

BELIEVE: “But Jesus was matter-of-fact: “Yes—and if you embrace this kingdom life and don’t doubt God, you’ll not only do minor feats like I did to the fig tree, but also triumph over huge obstacles.  This mountain, for instance, you’ll tell, ‘Go jump in the lake,’ and it will jump. Absolutely everything, ranging from small to large, as you make it a part of your believing prayer, gets included as you lay hold of God.” (Matthew 21:21-22 The Message Bible.)

PRAY: Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Matthew 4: 6-7 NIV)

LIVE: And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” (Luke 4:4 KJV)

BLESSED: Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law, he meditates day and night.” (Psalm 1:1-2 NKJV)

We are all done here!  Now it is up to you out there!  Make the meditation meaningful by applying that which is in black and white, both what you just read and what you shall hear tomorrow, coming out of the word of God, via the sent, specific, preached message with a purpose.  Let me say something one more time, “Be blessed!”

Still committed to the climb,
