“Be strong. Take courage. Don’t be intimidated. Don’t give them a second thought because God, your God, is striding ahead of you. He’s right there with you. He won’t let you down; He won’t leave you.”(Deuteronomy 31:6 The Message Bible)
On visits to big theme parks, filled with a variety of rides and games, food options galore, and the opportunity to just set and observe people, my older children focused on one ride, the rollercoaster. The lines were so long, and time passed slowly as they inched their way to the position where they were prompted by the ride operator to go ahead and get a seat on the rollercoaster. They were instructed to fasten their seat belts and hold on. I’m not sure how long the ride lasted, but after a few minutes elapsed quickly, the children bolted off the ride, and they got back in line to boldly ride that rollercoaster again.
While you may be like me and pass on riding on rollercoasters, you cannot get out of riding the rollercoaster of life. on that rollercoaster, there will be high points and low points, quick turns, twists that show up unexpectedly, rises and real drastic drops. Slow movement on the rollercoaster of life will be followed by accelerating speeds. Yes, the pace on the rollercoaster of life seems to change daily. There will be psychological arousals and the need for physical endurance on the rollercoaster of life. As time advances, such as in the case of theme park rollercoaster sudden changes, the rollercoaster of life will change with time. New flips will be experienced, and you will be going in circles at times. There will be exhilaration and exasperation. Some of the new changes a rider may face over time will cause stress for a moment on the rollercoaster of life, and that will cause one to cry out to the Lord, and their call is serious.
It’s Tuesday morning and you have already thought about the day ahead. You have already wondered about what surprises you will encounter on the rollercoaster ride of life. While fear of the unknown or fears that you knowingly will face try to overwhelm you, calm down, hold on to God’s unchanging hand, and see how He will bring you through the rollercoaster ride again. Then on Wednesday and every day you are blessed to see, get back in line trusting that the Lord will see you through the rollercoaster of life. Won’t He do it! Yes! He will! Fasten your faith seatbelt and get ready to start your ride, forge ahead boldly! You will make it through! Sing the words of the song below. They will help you stay God-conscious and confident on the ride. Be blessed!
“Time is filled with swift transition, naught of earth unmoved can stand. Build your hopes on things eternal, hold to God’s unchanging hand. Trust in Him who will not leave you, whatsoever years may bring. If by earthly friends forsaken, still more closely to Him cling. Hold to God’s unchanging hand! Hold to God’s unchanging hand! Build your hopes on things eternal, hold to God’s unchanging hand.”
Still committed to the climb,
Mark L. King
