“Now it came about after this, that war broke out at Gezer with the Philistines; then Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Sippai, one of the descendants of the giants, and they were subdued. And there was war with the Philistines again, and Elhanan the son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the shaft of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam. Again there was war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature who had twenty-four fingers and toes, six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot; and he also was descended from the giants. When he taunted Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea, David’s brother, killed him. These were descended from the giants in Gath, and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.” (2 Chronicles 20:4-8 NASB)
Praise ye the Lord, for this is another day we have been blessed to see! This is another day in which we can assemble with the saints in the special presence of the Lord! I’m sure you will be well fed this morning, but before you go, let me share some good news with you from one of my favorite passages, the one above. Every place you see the word “giants” or “great stature” above, think about a big problem. You may not be facing a big problem right now. Perhaps you will face one in the future. What am I saying! I’m saying that we will all face more than one “big problem” in our days ahead. They may be physical problems, emotional problems, relationship problems, problems dealing with changes that you have no control over, problems presented by testing and/or temptation, political problems, family problems, problems with finding the right one to marry, problems with the one you did marry, and of course spiritual problems to name a few. Yes, we will all face more than one “big problem.”
As you meditate on the passage above, consider the following: (1) In this life there is always another big problem to battle. (2) If you thought your last problem was gigantic, you will face related “giant” problems in the future. Are you about ready for some good news? Well, here it is! (3) If you trust in the Lord; if you maintain a relationship with the Lord, He will maintain a long-term interest in you and your family that will follow you, and, here it is, “The big problems can be defeated!” Praise God!
I’m done. Head off to your worship service and see what the Lord has to specifically say to you! Go be equipped! Enter to worship, leave to serve, and saint, you give your problem advance notice that you are not afraid of any “giant! Bring it on!”
I’ll “talk” to you in the morning! Know that you remain in my prayers! Be blessed!”
“The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and the One who rescues me; my God, my rock and strength in whom I trust and take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower—my stronghold.” (Psalm 18:2 The Amplified Bible)
