BUT ME…

“But me, I’m not giving up. I’m sticking around to see what God will do. I’m waiting for God to make things right. I’m counting on God to listen to me.” (Micah 7:7 The Message Bible)

Two little boys, one almost 5-years old, and one almost 2-years-old moved their wooden dining room chairs as close as they could the big picture window in the dining room. The vertical blinds had been opened as far as they could so there would be nothing blocking their view. Why were they doing all this instead of playing? Well, their father had just informed them that their 25-year-old cousin was on her way to their house. The five-year-old had borrowed one of his parent’s phones and had called his cousin. He repeatedly asked her, “Are you almost here?” I can only imagine the dialogue. The nearly two-year-old is leaning on the windowsill, barely still sitting on the chair. It was early evening and darkness would soon take over the sky. Yet, in spite of daylight’s steady disappearance to disguise its continuous light, as if it was sleeping, the two little boys continued to wait patiently for their grown playmate to arrive. The open blinds are not disturbed, and the faces of the boys were really serene, peaceful, and they refused to do anything else but wait, showing their confidence in their cousin’s promise to come to their house.

You know, we can learn something from these two little boys and the words found in the verse above. Like the boys, don’t give up in waiting. Specifically, and more clearly stated, “Don’t give up waiting for the Lord to show up in your setting, or your situation, or in your search for things to be made right in your life.”  Like the boys, keep standing on the promises, keep watching and waiting, and having dialogue with your Promise Maker, the Lord, while you wait. He is a Promise Maker and a Promise Keeper. Like the two little boys counted on their big cousin to show up, you can count on the Lord to hear your prayers and show up right on time.

Stay peaceful as you wait. When it seems like darkness will win, like the boys, keep watching and waiting. Refuse to do anything that might shrink your confidence. Follow the boys’ example. Furthermore, say, just what the verse above says when enticed to abandon waiting. “But me, I’m not giving up, I’m sticking around to see what God will do. I’m waiting for God to make things right. I’m counting on God to listen to me.” Have a great day, my friend. Be blessed!

“But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles. They run and don’t get tired. They walk and don’t lag behind.” (Isaiah 40:31 The Message Bible)
