CHATTER OR WHAT REALLY MATTERS?

“These words I speak to you are not incidental additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living. They are foundational words, words to build a life on. If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock. Rain poured down, the river flooded, a tornado hit—but nothing moved that house. It was fixed to the rock.” (Excerpt from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 7:24-25 The Message Bible)

It is not often that you get a Monday Short and then on Tuesday get another “Short,” but today is one of those days! There is a lot of chatter in this world that we will hear, and it originates in various sources. There is the chatter that comes with the daily gossip, the chatter of groups of people who base their life compass on their intellect or emotion, and that’s not all the chatter.  There is the chatter of Satan, the secular world, and the seducing flesh in which our souls exist. There is still more chatter! We hear the voices of those who think are circumstances are discipline, when in fact, they are designed to develop our faith and trust in God. Words that defend stepping away from truth because of present day trends are included in the chatter that is based on false teachings, failing moral standards, and futuristic vision that leave God out of the picture.

Here is what I want to equip you with today, something short, simple and sure. It’s a saying I incorporated in this past Sunday’s sermon. Are you ready? Here we go! “It does not matter about the chatter! Stop listening to the chatter and look to what really matters!” Yes, Look to the word of the Lord! Enjoy your day! Be blessed!

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Psalm 119:105 King James Version)
