DOWNLOADING AND UPLOADING

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7 New King James Version)

You are probably way more technical savvy then me, so I am sure you are familiar with the terms in today’s title.  I may be wrong, but I would guess you have employed downloading more than you have uploading.  These days people are always downloading, downloading apps, pictures, programs, drivers, documents, videos, and more.  I don’t hear much talk about uploading.

As believers, we have to look at downloading from a few viewpoints.  We look for the Lord to download fresh, and much needed mercy each day.  We study His word diligently to download wisdom, download something better than leaning on our own understanding, download reviving, inspirational material that relates to a personal issue, and we download flight information.  We eagerly await God’s download, an answer to our prayers, and we accept it, aware that He knows just what’s best for us.  From a responsibility point of view, and this one is important, we must use downloading with our children of all ages, teaching thy children, from morning to night as we walk and talk, impressing on them the words of the Lord by instruction and by example.  As a matter of fact, I cannot leave out that we have to download light, for we are the light of the world, and we have to download salt, for we are the salt of the earth.  And don’t leave out the fact that we have to download, in a convicting way, the good news to the lost by going therefore and making disciples.  One more, when you go to church tomorrow, yes Sunday, you will be downloading the necessity we have as believers to not forsake the assembly of the saints.  A word of advice: Make sure you are downloading from the right source, because as it is said in Galatians 5:9 (Amplified Bible), “A little leaven [a slight inclination to error, or a few false teachers] leavens the whole batch [it perverts the concept of faith and misleads the church].”

Now, let’s look at uploading.  We have the privilege to look to the hills from whence commeth our help!  Our help comes from the Lord.  We have the privilege to upload our cares and concerns, for the Lord cares for us!  We have the privilege to upload all our burdens and leave them at the throne of our gracious God.  And we need to upload our praise!  For the Lord has been mighty, mighty good to us!

Go take care of your Saturday, “Things to Do” list, but tomorrow, show up at the Lord’s house and do benefit from some downloading and some uploading.  Have a great day!  Be blessed!

“I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from?  My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” (Psalm 121:1-2 NIV)

Still committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
