“But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.” (John 14:25 NLT)
Your new model car is equipped with all kinds of driver’s assist features, lane assist, parking assist, remote start, steering assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, and traffic sign recognition. Technology is so advanced that some models parallel park for you and others will even let you drive hands free. My favorites are the lane assist, the traffic sign hologram that only the driver can see on the front windshield, and the blind spot alert that appears in your rear-view mirrors.
Now there is one feature that I never noticed until I was driving home on a street with no other traffic. I took my hands off the steering wheel to stretch them while driving and suddenly, some orange letters appeared on the dashboard saying, or better yet ordering me, to put my hands on the steering wheel. If you are wondering, I obeyed the command.
Some auto makers claim to have the best driver’s assist technology ever. I have one reason to disagree with their assessment. You see, as we drive through life, we have the assistance of the Holy Spirit. As it relates to our living, He helps us stay in our lane, tells us when to go ahead or to stop in a variety of situations. In regard to emergencies, He really lets us know about the impending and certain dangers that lie ahead. He not only lets us know about what’s ahead, but He warns us when the path ahead is one, we should avoid altogether. He keeps us from turning off the narrow path of righteousness. When we let Him, He will take total control and drive us safety to where we should be going. He brings to remembrance those things we have read in our operations manual (The Bible), and when we are tempted to stop driving as we should on this Christian journey, He lets us know, “Put your hands back on the steering will (No typo friends. The Lord’s will be done!
Let’s thank Jesus for sending us the Holy Spirit, our Helper, our Comforter, and per my label, the truly best Driver’s Assist one needs. Now go ahead, thank the Lord! And beyond this day, let Him assist you as you drive through life.
Oh yeah! This is Saturday! Tomorrow is Sunday! When you get a reminder that you should be on your way to service, it is not your conscious my fellow believer. It is your best Driver Assis, the Holy Spirit, providing you with help. Do as He urges you to do, to not miss being in the assembly of the saints. Choose to follow His urging. Be blessed!
