“My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. Tune your ears to wisdom and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God.” (Proverbs 2:1-5 NLT)
My bilingual two-year old grandson watched our church service online Sunday. Later in the day he said to his father, “Eschucha Tito!” He was communicating that he wanted to watch our service again and listen to grandpa, “Aubelito” in Spanish, or in his abbreviated name for me, “Tito.” How cute is that? More importantly, how important is it to have a desire to listen, and listen again to God’s sent word as He speaks through us through His called vessels?
It’s Thursday morning. Most of you heard a word from the Lord on Sunday, and many of you have been to your mid-week Bible Study classes too. My questions for you are as follows: “Did you have the same desire to revisit the preached and word again, like my two-year old grandson?” “Did you have a desire to go back over your Bible Study notes again, or will they just remain scribbling in a notebook, never, possibly, to be seen again?” “Did you intentionally try to listen again to the man of God on Facebook, so that you could overcome the Oriental saying, “To hear is to forget”?
Look! I’m just asking and perhaps motivating at the same time, to go revisit the recent preaching points and teaching highlights. Perhaps you will make sure the word did not go in one ear and out the other, but it was instead, hidden in your heart. Perhaps? No! Hopefully! Enjoy your Thursday my friend! Be blessed!
“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” (Psalm 119:11 NIV)
Still committed to the climb,
