EYES BUT NO SIGHT AND EARS BUT DO NOT HEAR

Now hear this, O foolish people without heart, who have eyes but do not see,
Who have ears but do not hear.” (Jeremiah 5:21 Amplified Bible)

Let’s have a make-believe, but meaningful conversation with Jeremiah before we head off to church.

You and Me: “Wait a minute Jeremiah, we are not foolish, and we have hearts.”

Jeremiah: “Okay if you say so.  But how are you doing in terms of seeing and hearing”?

You and Me: “What in the world are you talking about Jeremiah?”

Jeremiah: “I’m glad you asked. You are on your way to church, right? Will you have eyes that will pay attention to the word that is read? Will you have ears to hear what saith the Lord? Will you see the blessing this morning that comes from on high to make you better? Will you hear the Lord speaking specifically to you for a specific purpose or will your pretend that it is for someone else?”

You and Me: “Now that you have explained it that way Jeremiah, we understand it would be foolish for us not to use our eyes, read the word with the Bible we bring with us and use our ears to hear the specific message that the Lord is sending today by a specific messenger, and yes for a specific purpose. We get it now Jeremiah, and we will not let the Lord down! We will go in better, go in with open minds, open eyes to see, and open ears to hear! That way, we will go out better! Thank you so much for talking with us this Sunday morning.”

Our make-believe conversation is over!  Now let me give you what I have found to be a mandatory chat-worthy reminder every Sunday morning, including today.  I refer to it often, using various translations of the bible, hoping that I will find the one that moves you. See below!  Enjoy worship, go in better than before, ready to see and hear, and come out better, all the more. Be blessed!

“Don’t stop meeting together with other believers, which some people have gotten into the habit of doing. Instead, encourage each other, especially as you see the day drawing near.” (Hebrews 10:25 Common English Bible)
