“By faith, Moses, when grown, refused the privileges of the Egyptian royal house. He chose a hard life with God’s people rather than an opportunistic soft life of sin with the oppressors. He valued suffering in the Messiah’s camp far greater than Egyptian wealth because he was looking ahead, anticipating the payoff. By an act of faith, he turned his heel on Egypt, indifferent to the king’s blind rage. He had his eye on the One no eye can see, and kept right on going. By an act of faith, he kept the Passover Feast and sprinkled Passover blood on each house so that the destroyer of the firstborn wouldn’t touch them.” (Hebrews 11:24-28 The Message Bible)
We are studying The Book of Hebrews in our three weekly Bible Study Classes. There was something we covered this week regarding making faith decisions and I believe that it is worth sharing with a world-wide audience. Listen! Faith decisions are the right decisions. Any decisions not made by faith are wrong decisions.
During our study, as we looked at the verses above, we actually zeroed in on Hebrews 11:24-25. We talked about making faith decision and we identified Moses as a model to emulate in our own decision making. I’m sure this is a timely meditation for the weekend, for surely you will face decisions to go after what looks good, rather than looking to God, tempting you to forego the blessings that come from trusting in what God says. Be aware, my friend, the faith decision is not always come from choosing between God’s way and the enticement of the enemy, Satan. Your faith decision may not come from being drawn to the secular world. They will also come from within, from your old nature that keeps raising its naughty head; from the flesh which constantly flashes appealing messages to our minds by means of our senses; sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch, tempting us to sin.
Saturday seductions, come in clusters and clothe themselves as being acceptable, while presenting attractive actions and options to behave contrary, contradictory to trusting in our Almighty God. Furthermore, even tomorrow, on Sunday, you will face a faith decision on whether to attend worship service or not. That’s just the first day of the week! Throughout the rest of the days, in every day of every week, in every year that the Lord blesses you to see, you will find yourself facing faith decisions (Note the last word is plural. Beware! Be on guard!) My advice is that you match the Moses model and make the right decision by faith.
Have a God-conscious, Christ-centered weekend as you too stay committed to the climb. Please God with your decisions by making faith decisions. Be blessed!
“The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we can’t see. The act of faith is what distinguished our ancestors, set them above the crowd.” (Hebrews 11:24-25 The Message Bible)
