FROM CINEMATOGRAPHYTO CHRISTOLOGY

“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you and to give you assurance of these things for the churches. I am the Root (the Source, the Life) and the Offspring of David, the radiant and bright Morning Star.” (Revelation 22:16 The Amplified Bible)

I was intrigued by an expert’s explanation of patterns that you see in motion pictures. He explained with several examples, how chase scenes are what people remember, how a triangular formula is used in scripting, and then he talked about intermediary characters. His example of the latter was “The Godfather” movie, where one brother was to soft, one was to hard, but the key character was just right and became the head of a mafia family. Of course, I thought of Jesus as the best, real intermediary character in history. Let’s call it a real, God-the-Father story, for it is truly just that, right? Yes!  God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son so that whosoever believes in Him shall have everlasting life. Look at how cinematography gives way to Christology. The lawgiver, Moses, played a major role, but he could not become the head of God’s family. Elijah and the other prophets played a key role, but none of them could become the head of God’s family. Only Jesus, who stood front and center stage between the other two on the Mount of Transfiguration, only He could be the head of God’s family, the head of the body of Christ, the head of the church.

As a matter of fact, moving “From cinematography to Christology,” Jesus’ role is greater than any of the other roles you see in movies. He is more than a bit player.  He is a major and necessary player in our lives. He is not an extra, but He plays an exceptional and essential role in our lives. Jesus does not or should not play a recurring role where He only appears in multiple episodes that show up in our lives, but He should be a mainstay in our lives as we strive to live Christ-centered days from here to eternity. Yes, Christ plays an intermediary role for He is assumes an essential and dynamic part in each believer’s life narrative.  Perhaps it is better said that Christ is the Person in the leading role, the main star, who should be what viewers of our lives see, not just on Sunday, but every single day.

What role will Christ play in your life this week? Only you can answer that question but know that your answer will not be seen in your explanation, but by exposing your response powerfully in your actions that show that the Christ who lives in you.

I know! This was not the usual Monday Short meditation.  I’ll try to make up for it, Lord willing, tomorrow. Now, get on with the show or better said, “the showing,” for the light is not just on you, the Light is in you!  Let your light so shine!  Action on the set!  Be blessed!

“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20 King James Version)
