“Knowing the correct password—saying ‘Master, Master,’ for instance—isn’t going to get you anywhere with me. What is required is serious obedience—doing what my Father wills. I can see it now—at the Final Judgment thousands strutting up to me and saying, ‘Master, we preached the Message, we bashed the demons, our super-spiritual projects had everyone talking.’ And do you know what I am going to say? ‘You missed the boat. All you did was use me to make yourselves important. You don’t impress me one bit. You’re out of here.’ “These words I speak to you are not incidental additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living. They are foundational words, words to build a life on. If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock. Rain poured down, the river flooded, a tornado hit—but nothing moved that house. It was fixed to the rock. “But if you just use my words in Bible studies and don’t work them into your life, you are like a stupid carpenter who built his house on the sandy beach. When a storm rolled in and the waves came up, it collapsed like a house of cards.” (Matthew 7: 21-27 The Message Bible)
Jesus speaks of the importance of His words as He concludes The Sermon on The Mount.” While it is true that anytime Jesus speaks, we find His words to be profound, in this sermon, Jesus gives us precise and plain words for pursuing godly living as professed believers. This Sunday morning, at your local church, you will hear more words sent from above, words that will edify you, educate you, and even more. Pay attention to the words coming from the pulpit and let them pulsate in your heart. Look how they will help you and put the help to good use. Apply the words in your living. These words you will hear this morning, I’m sure they will help you evade trying to lead yourself and instead you will put forth the efforts to acknowledge what the Lord says, letting Him direct your path. The words you here this morning will improve your standard of living, once you recognize the inspired words of the Lord are the solid foundation on which to build your life. Oh, there is more! The words you will hear will encourage you to apply the specific, sent message, specifically for you. Yes, it’s still true! The specific messenger will be one sent by the Lord for a specific purpose, specifically for you.
So, if you are not already planning on attending church, please amend your plans. Other things to do may look good and other things may sound good, but there is nothing like hearing the inspired words of God. Go hear the word today! Enjoy your worship experience in the special presence of the Lord. Be blessed!
“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17 NLT Version)
