It will also come to pass that before they call, I will answer; while they are still speaking, I will listen.” (Isaiah 65:24 NASB)
You were probably one of the “good” kids who never heard those four fearful words directed to you, “Go to the office!” I can’t say the same for me. There are probably still footprints that the school maintenance staff cannot remove, footprints left by my feet making numerous journeys to “the office.”
Yet, today, you these four words may be directed to you if what I am about to share applies to you. If not, at least you will get a mid-week laugh and a mid-week lesson from the short scriptural references.
Monday morning, after waking up and drinking my two cups of coffee, I made up the bed, took some dirty clothes to the laundry room, went to the hardware store and the grocery store, and worked outside for a few hours removing decorative stones embedded in the dirt around the stump that remained after I had a fifty-year-old maple tree removed. I had on gloves, and I went through two shirts and hats, and one pair of sweatpants, drenched in perspiration. My knees were begging for frequent breaks, my hip was asking me to please go lay down and finish another day, and my hand joined in with the pleading. Not to be left out of what psychologist call collective behavior, my back screamed in agony. However, I didn’t listen, regretfully.
Now, most of you know that Monday is supposedly a “come down” day for preachers after being used by God to preach a sent work from on high. Typically, Monday is a day where a little more rest, more than normal, is desired. But I know some of you or SOMEBODY, knowing that I am retired from the workforce and look for things to do outside of prepping, writing and studying, SOMEBODY, some soul was praying, “PLEASE give Pastor King something to do on Monday!”
Whoever is that SOMEBODY, guilty of that prayer request, you know that the Lord hears our prayer and answers them, don’t you? I know you do! So, if it was you, immediately after church, “Go to the office!” We need to talk! But know that I’ll forgive you if you pray that the Lord renews my strength. Wait, who am I kidding? I’ll forgive you anyway, my friend. Have a little laugh and learn from the verses above regarding prayer. Have a wonderful Wednesday! Be blessed!
“And whatever you ask for in prayer, believing, you will receive.” (Matthew 21:22 The Amplified Bible)
