“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.” (Matthew 6:6-8 NIV)
I shared what you are about to read with our congregation this past Sunday, but I thought it was worth sharing with a bigger audience. When you finish reading, you can classify this meditation as you so choose. Your can call it a real testimony or a relevant message for all God’s people. You can classify it under “reassurance” or “revealing things about the Almighty. It’s your choice. If those options don’t work, you can file it under “Awesome God,” or “He Already Knows.” Maybe you will just use the title above, “God hears you…” My favorite way to classify what you are about to read is with words I recently wrote to you, “You don’t know what God is doing until He’s done.”
Here is the story, all true. I’ll present it in a chronological order. At a Saturday choir rehearsal, we talked about increasing the choir membership. God heard us, realized there was a sincere, godly purpose behind what we were talking, and He took it as a prayer. It just had to be because at the next choir rehearsal we had new members, The story continues. At another choir rehearsal, a couple of faithful members started talking about how nice it would be if we had robes. God heard us, realized we did not want the robes for show, but to show our unity in standing behind the words we sang. That has to be the case because during the week after that rehearsal, I found a local church that wanted to bless another church with their robes. I called and set up a time to come look at the robes and if I wanted them, our church could have them. I go to the church, and not only do I get 15 robes or 20 robes, but I picked up 38 robes. I will pick up the rest this week, plus a systemized hanging rack specifically for the roves. We will have 55 robes when it is all said and done. The robes are of the highest quality, and they were grey with purple and gold striping on the sleeves. When I saw them, it took all the restraint in me to keep from breaking out in some sanctified dance. Perhaps as happy as David was when he brought the Ark of the Covenant back into the city. I did pretty good, but when I got on the interstate, all I could say was, “Praise God for the way He blesses His people! Thank you, Jesus!”
Wait! I’m not done! The robes also came with reversible purple stoles! I’m telling you God heard us, and He took it as a prayer. Again, take note. Not only does God answer prayer. But He will bless you above your expectations.
One more part to the story. There are a couple of individuals who need shorter robes. As choir members were trying on robes, I heard the talking about that need. Guess what? God heard to and He took it as a prayer!
Now you classify what I have just shared with you in your own words. If you want, send me a response, so that I will know how you classified this true account. I’ll be looking for your uplifting response! In the meantime, you be uplifted because God hears you even before you ask. Love you! Be blessed!
