HIJACKED!

”And Satan entered Judas, the one called Iscariot, who belonged to the number of the twelve. And he left and discussed with the chief priests and officers how he was to betray Him to them. And they were delighted, and agreed to give him money. And so he consented, and began looking for a good opportunity to betray Him to them away from the crowd.” (Luke 22:3-5 NASB)

The world’s longest and most spectacular hijacking, according to an article published in 2019 by Roland Huges and BBS News, was the hijacking of TWA85, and it took place on Friday, October 31, 1969, after departing from Los Angeles, the plane stopped at Denver, New York, Maine, Shannon, Ireland, and Rome, ending some 23 hours after its departure sight.  Some of you are too young to be remember this hijacking.

However, all of us know how Satan hijacked Judas, and we surely must of have read about how the world hijacked Demas after working with the Apostle Paul in the ministry. I don’t know the length of these hijackings and would not call them spectacular, rather sinful. Furthermore, send an urgent alert to all believers to keep from being hijacked.

Be on the alert, friend, Satan will try to hijack you! The secular world will try to hijack you too, take you away from traveling up the King’s highway on the road of righteousness. Even your flesh, self, with all its old natural desires will try to hijack you. Nobody is immune from being hijacked!  Again, I sound an alarm, “Stay on the alert.”

If you are thinking, “I go to the place of worship and I’m not in the position to be hijacked,” then I should probably remind you about the man heading back from Jerusalem, the man in Jesus’ parable He used to answer the question, “Who is my neighbor?” You know the story as “The Good Samaritan.” Well, the man who was heading down the Jericho Road in this parable, the one who fell into the hands of robbers who stripped him, beat him, and went away leaving him half dead, was probably coming from the place of worship in Jerusalem. So, I repeat, “Be on the alert, friend!” You enemies, Satan, the secular world, sinners in this world, the scornful, the stubborn unrighteous, and self, they all will try to hijack you! Stay in the word!  Stay in worship!  Stay in the church!  Stay in prayer!  Stay safe in the arms of the Lord! Pass every test, put to rest every temptation, and purge every evil thought that comes up in your mind! Please God in walking by faith!  Protect yourself!  Pump up your spiritual muscles in worship tomorrow, Sunday morning! Prevent being hijacked!

I’m praying for your safe travel today, my friend. Be blessed!

“…for Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and has departed for Thessalonica—Crescens for Galatia, Titus for Dalmatia.” (2 Timothy 4:10 New King James Version)

Committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
