HOLD ON TO YOUR BLESSINGS

Embrace your blessings.” (Steve Maraboli)

It was a windy Tuesday morning.  I exited my car with a check in my hand.  I was going to deposit it in the bank.  The amount of the check did not matter.  Big or small, any check is a blessing!  Smile!  Keep reading, for things are about to get interesting.

Obviously, I was not embracing the envelope in which my check was enclosed tightly enough.  The wind snatched out my hand like a hawk swoops down and snatches its prey.  At my age, I did not think I had an athletic move left in my body.  But suddenly, I ran with great speed, like a defensive back trying to catch up with the wide receiver that had zigged and zagged, did a spin move, and hurdled himself over another defender who was determined to reach the end zone.  If any one was looking at me from afar, I’m sure they had their laugh for the day.  Relentlessly I shifted my direction, in symphony with the wind carrying my envelope in multiple directions.  If it headed downward, I bent to grab it.  If it decided to go to heights beyond my head, I jumped to grab it.  This all may have only occurred in a matter of minutes, but for a senior citizen like me, it seemed like a long time.  If it had been a real football game, in my mind, it would have been time for one of those mandatory commercial breaks.

Eventually, I catch up with the wind and grab the envelope.  I hold on to it tightly.  Thank God that He gives strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might he increases strength.  I learned my lesson, not just about holding on to my envelopes when going to the bank on a windy day, but a greater lesson, applicable to all the blessings God bestows on us.  I learned, “Hold on to your blessings!”

So, I share that lesson with you today.  You have been blessed to see another day, hold on to your blessing and take care of it as God would desire and require of you.  You have all that He has promised you, food, clothing, and shelter, because He is true the word which says, “But seek ye first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.”  Hold on to your blessings!

Whether you see it or not, God has blessed you with favor.  Hold on to your blessings.  He has gifted you in a way that is different than others.  Hold on to your blessings.  You are blessed to be a blessing.  Hold on to your blessing!

Look around you right now, and see your many blessings!  Think about how He woke you up!  Think about there is someone worst off than you, whatever your condition may be.  Think about how He has left you here for a purpose, beneficial to the kingdom of God!  Hold on to your blessings!  If you need to be blessed through someone else this morning, let me accommodate you, but after I do, hold on to your blessing.  Be blessed!

The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:  The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee.  The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee and give thee peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26 King James Version)

Still committed to the climb,
