I GOT A GUY!

“Inside the city, near the Sheep Gate, was the pool of Bethesda, with five covered porches. Crowds of sick people—blind, lame, or paralyzed—lay on the porches. One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, he asked him, “Would you like to get well?” “I can’t, sir,” the sick man said, “for I have no one to put me into the pool when the water bubbles up. Someone else always gets there ahead of me.” Jesus told him, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!” Instantly, the man was healed!” (John 5:1-9a NLT Version)

I believe it is safe to say that there have been times in your life where you needed to find someone to help remedy a problem with your car, a problem with something that was not working properly in your home, or a problem fixed when you faced an onslaught of hopelessness. In the midst of such times or similar times, at least once, but more than likely more than once, one of your friends told you, “I got a guy.”

Possibly in the distant past or maybe even recently, you needed to find  someone to haul the overflowing “stuff” that has been stored in your garage, or you needed  someone to haul all the limbs, branches, and rubbish you accumulated as you trimmed your trees and cut down the wild bushes in your yard that were growing at a phenomenal rate. Yes, you need someone who owned a truck and who had reasonable rates. When you shared your situation with a trusted acquaintance, that real friend, let you know, “I got a guy.”

Well, I consider you a real friend. Therefore, if you need help to change your situation, I would not be acting as a good friend ought to act if I did not tell you, “I got a Guy.” If you are going through a temptation, a trial, or a test, and you cannot find anyone to help you overcome your trouble, listen to me, your real friend. You see, “I got a Guy.” If the conditions of life have crippled you and your hope is crumbling, as your real friend, I feel obligated to tell you, “I got a guy.”

Let me introduce you to my Guy! His name is Jesus! Do you want to be better? Call my Guy! Do you want to be better. Call my Guy! I you can identify with the words of the songwriter who said, “If you long for sweet peace, posed the question, “Do you long for sweet rest and for your faith to increase,” call my Guy!  You see He specializes in all things. He is an expert in all kinds of fixing. As a matter of fact, He can even fix your relationship with the Father. Good news! There is no charge! All you have to do is believe. Try Him and find sweet relief. And after my Guy has helped you, make sure you share these words with your family members and friends that are going through something or need a spiritual healing, “I got a guy!”  Have a fantastic day! Rejoice! Be blessed!

Committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
