“O loving and kind God, have mercy. Have pity upon me and take away the awful stain of my transgressions. Oh, wash me, cleanse me from this guilt. Let me be pure again. For I admit my shameful deed—it haunts me day and night. It is against you and you alone I sinned and did this terrible thing. You saw it all, and your sentence against me is just. But I was born a sinner, yes, from the moment my mother conceived me. You deserve honesty from the heart; yes, utter sincerity and truthfulness. Oh, give me this wisdom.” (Psalm 51:1-6 The Living Bible)
Keep reading! No! This is not a repeat of yesterday’s meditation! I just decided to challenge myself and of course you, to stay with the same theme this week, “I Want What He Has.”
What is it that we should want today? Well, the bible lets us know that all sin and fall short of the glory of God; “sin” referring to wrong thoughts or wrong actions, minor deviations from the paths of righteousness and major departures from that same recommended path, and while we are talking about “sin,” let’s not leave out the plethora of trespasses that we try to translate as sinless acts, and we place them in that set-aside category labeled “That was not so bad.” Since this is the case, the fact that we all sin, we should want what David has, as indicated in the text above. What did David have? Even though he was prompted by the prophet Nathan, God’s specifically sent messenger, much like we have to be prompted by a specific message sent by God, David did the right thing. He found integrity, acknowledged his sins, and appealed to the Almighty so that he could benefit from God’s goodness in the form of mercy. David had the integrity, the honesty to admit his transgression, acknowledge his guilt, accept the truth that his sin was terrible and against God. Side note: All sin fits what you just read in the sentence you just read.
Let’s go further. David not only had integrity, but David had the insight to speak of what God deserves from any of us: honesty, sincerity, and truthfulness. Let’s keep going a little bit further. In addition to integrity and insight, David identified what he needed in order to be better. You read the verse! He desired wisdom from the Lord.
Let’s be transparent! Let’s be truthful! We all need to be like David! Using David as a trusted benchmark for righting our behaviors and our bad thoughts, we all need to say, “I want what he has!”
Have a wonderful Tuesday! We will continue our theme tomorrow. Why? Because the focus on this featured theme will make us better! Be blessed!
“Generous in love—God, give grace! Huge in mercy—wipe out my bad record.
Scrub away my guilt, soak out my sins in your laundry. I know how bad I’ve been;
my sins are staring me down. You’re the One I’ve violated, and you’ve seen
it all, seen the full extent of my evil. You have all the facts before you; whatever you decide about me is fair. I’ve been out of step with you for a long time, in the wrong since before I was born. What you’re after is truth from the inside out. Enter me, then; conceive a new, true life.” (Psalm 51:1-6 The Message Bible)
Committed to the climb,

I Want What He Has #2 is just what I need to remind of how important it is to be transparent when talking with God. He already knows. The Message Bible closed perfectly. Conceive in me a new heart.
Thanks for the response and as usual you shared how you made the meditation applicable, specifically to you. Be blessed!
