“’If it had not been the Lord who was on our side,” Let Israel now say—’If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us, then they would have swallowed us alive. When their wrath was kindled against us; then the waters would have overwhelmed us. The stream would have [gone over our soul; then the swollen waters would have one over our soul. Blessed be the Lord, who has not given us as prey to their teeth. Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the[fowlers. The snare is broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.’” (Psalm 124”1-8 NKJV)
It was about 2:00 a.m., early on Wednesday morning. I was dreaming about being in church. The choir, dressed in their grey and purple robes, was about ready to sing, in that dream. And in that dream, while I was waiting to just blend my voice with the tenors to the best of my ability, the Lord told me to take hold of a microphone and speak to the people just before the choir director was ready to tell us to start a song and the musicians had already played the introductory prelude. In that dream, before the first note was sang, I moved to the front of the platform, microphone in hand, and I started talking.
I said, talking to the people in the pews, “I know, I’m not by myself! I know, all you can identify with me!” Listen, in that dream, you were probably one of the unidentifiable people in the pews, in that dream. If you were not, well you are now.
The Spirit must have taken control, in that dream! This is what I said: “I did not think I could make it. I did not think I could take it.” I continued speaking through the mic, in that dream! “I did not even want to get out of bed; wanting to lay there awake pessimistic about what possibly waited ahead.” In that dream, the choir and the musicians were interactive with their voices and their instruments. I continued, in that dream! “At first, I was ready to succumb to whatever I was facing. I was ready to submit to defeat without fighting.” But in that dream, the Lord kept me testifying a little bit longer. So, I looked out to the pew, glanced back to the choir, more than once, and I said, in that dream, to all within the sound of my voice, how I felt like at first, like I could not go on, but the Lord said, “I got you!” In that dream, the Lord said, ‘You are not in this thing alone.’ In that dream, the Lord goes on to present some evidence, like a lawyer in the courtroom. He says, in that dream, ‘Remember when you felt like this before? Didn’t I come to your rescue? Remember when you felt like you were in a pit before? Didn’t I pull you up and set your feet on solid ground!’ I’m still testifying, sharing about my little talk with the Lord, in that dream!
So, I proceed to share what the Lord had to say, in that dream. He says, “Don’t act like you are going through what you are going through alone.” I let listening ears, in that dream know that the Lord said, “Didn’t I tell you that I would never leave you or forsake you!’ ‘And to put action behind my words,’ says the Lord, in that dream, didn’t I assure you that you can make it and you can take it! Didn’t I tell you that you can rise up and raise up above your situation and you saddening feelings! Don’t you remember the song you use to sing with the church back in the day, the one based one scripture?” The Lord said, in that dream, “I’m talking about the song started out with these words, ‘If it had not been for the Lord on my side, tell me where I would be, where would I be?’” In that dream, the choir finally stands up and starts singing that very same song with voice that surpassed the singing of many angels. They did not sing the one they had rehearsed, but it is the one that had to be sang to all the listening ears, the one the Lord mentioned, in that dream.
Here are the words that they sang, in that dream. I hope you find them encouraging. Revisit the song that we seldom sing today, my friend. Know that there surely was a purpose for me hearing it, in that dream, and being moved to get up so early to write. I believe that the Lord wants you to remember that He is still with you. He is still present to help you! He is still in the business of delivering you. He still is beside you, and He will still go with you all the way. What I experienced, in that dream, it was not to keep to myself! Love you! Be blessed!
“If it had not been for the Lord on my side, tell me, where would I Be? Where would I be?
If It had not been for the Lord on my side, where Would I Be? Where Would I Be? He kept my enemies away. He Let The sun shine though a cloudy day. Oh, He wrapped me in the cradle Of His arms, when He knew I’d been Battered And torn, so, He never let me alone. He gave me peace and joy I’ve never known. He answered when I knelt to Him in prayer and in victory the Lord brough me this way!”
