It is the holiday weekend and there is a greater possibility on holiday weekends, more so than other weekends during the year, that you might find yourself in a company of friends, family, and even faces you never saw before, and you just might face the same situation as when they had run out of wine and Jesus performed His first recorded miracle. Same situation only because drinking was going on, but dissimilar because there will probably be no shortage of wine and strong drink.
So I issue my annual or semi-annual warning. I have to because it is not on the bottle label in these precise words, but it is in the Bible: “Wine is a mocker, strong drink a riotous brawler; and whoever is intoxicated by it is not wise.” (Proverbs 20:1 The Amplified Bible) Be transparent, like me, and admit it, “I know from experience this is true.” Add: “If I only knew!”
Have a good time my friends, being fully warned. Remember you are never yourself when you drink. No, I’m not getting paid for this by any special interest group. I just thought you would be interested in the excerpt above from God’s word. Enjoy the long weekend! Don’t forget God! Read the “bonus verse” below, also not on the bottle label, but in the Bible, and therefore it is profitable. Be blessed!
“Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.” (I Peter 5:8 NLT)
Still committed to the climb,
