LACK HISTORY MONTH?

“Remember the things I have done in the past.  For I alone am God!  I am God, and there is none like me.” (Isaiah 46:9 NLT)

That was not one of my absent-minded or “it’s too early in the morning” errors in the title.  I did not leave off the “B.”  Look I know it is officially Black History Month, assigned to the shortest month of the year.  I know that there are a multiple number of legislative issues that are attempting to block the teaching of the truth that set people of all colors free from having an unbiased view of history.  But again, I did not leave off the “B” in the title.

I want to answer the abbreviated question in the title.  In the history of your people, regardless of race, nationality, or ethnicity; in the history of your family; in your personal experience, there is no lack of history.  Furthermore, as it relates to your history, you ought to be sharing it with others!  Don’t be ashamed of your history!  Tell others how the Lord saved you from this and saved you from that in your past!  Tell others how the Lord brought your family through tough times?  Don’t leave out the details!  There is no shame in testifying how the Lord changed your personal history to be more in tune with His story to be told.  Share with others how you found out that the Lord will provide!  Speak of your hard times, your humbling times, and your “help-needed” times, and point out that the Lord, a very present help in times of trouble, saw you through!  Don’t act like you have always been where you are!  Don’t let there be a lack of history this month, and for that matter, not any month!  God has been too good!  Did you hear what I just said?  God has been too good for you not to testify to the great works He has done in your life!  God has been too merciful, for you to miss opportunities to share your history!  God has done wonderful things in your history!  Challenges have been conquered – with the help of God!  Obstacles have been moved – with the help of God!  Temptations have been overcome – with the help of God!  For some, the days of poverty in the past, proved the point, that if you seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, you will not have to have anxiety, no anxious worrying about food, clothing, and shelter!  And you also learned that the Lord will still make a way out of no way and provide a ram in the bush right on time!  Listen now!  Be open!  Be honest!  There is no lack of history when it comes to how the Lord developed you, directed you, and delivered you!  If you need to take a minute from reading as you have started to reflect on how God has impacted your life, say, “Selah” and pause for a minute!  Go ahead and shout Hallelujah to the heavens!  My friend, you will have some opportunities to share your history!  Just look for them and then transition trivial talk into a testimony talk!  Move from insignificant chatter to a significant conversation!  When you are done, suggest to you listener that he/she should refer to some of the lyrics taken from the song written by R.C. Ward.  You will find them below in the usual place where I provide a closing verse!  Have a great second day of February!  Be blessed!

“When waves of affliction sweep over the soul and sunlight is hidden from view, if ever you’re tempted to fret or complain, just think of His goodness to you.  Just think of His goodness to you!  Yes, think of His goodness to you!  Though storms o’er you sweep, He is able to keep; O think of His goodness to you.”

Still committed to the climb,
