“So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience;bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so must you do also. In addition to all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.” Timothy 2:1 English Standard Version)
In interior decorating layering is adding different colors, objects made of various textures, and continuously striving to make a room or a whole house look pleasing. In the cold winter months, layering is for people who want to face the reality of the frigid weather and not continuing to wear clothing from the warmer season just to look really cool. Facing reality in the winter, one will wear multiple layers of clothing to please their body which is appreciative to the fact that you did not ignore its screaming out, “Please dress warm today!”
The scriptures above let us know how to layer as a people chosen by God. If you just take a few minutes this Saturday morning to re-read and meditate on today’s verses, you will surely be ready to go through this day, living in such a way that you please God. Pleasing God should be first on our list. We please ourselves in decorating and please self in the sense of being properly clothed. So, we should not forget to continually layer, as necessary to please God. Have a great Saturday, and don’t forget to go to church tomorrow. Be in the fellowship of the saints on Sunday. By the way, the closing verses will help you in layering. Smile! Be blessed!
“So, stand strong with the belt of truth tied around your waist, and on your chest wear the protection of right living. On your feet wear the Good News of peace to help you stand strong. 16 And also use the shield of faith with which you can stop all the burning arrows that come from the Evil One. Accept God’s salvation as your helmet. And take the sword of the Spirit—that sword is the teaching of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times. Pray with all kinds of prayers and ask for everything you need. To do this you must always be ready. Never give up. Always pray for all of God’s people.” (Ephesians 6: 14-18 Easy-to-Read Version)
