LET THERE BE LIGHT

“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” (Psalm 119:105 New International Version)

Version)

A truly, tremendously faithful, tireless worker in the kingdom was driving at night recently, heading home after attending to, ministering to the needs of others. Her navigation over the roads seemed to be more challenging than ever as the byways were harder to see. The bumps, potholes, and debris were almost undetectable. Caution and concern were present, as well as a commitment to complete her task and return home safely characterized her drive.

In spite of the challenge she was facing, she relentlessly drove on, revealing her normal attributes of being a dedicated and devoted person. I’m sure this saint said a prayer, even if it was only silent, “HMJ (Help me Jesus!)! Either her prayer was answered, or the Lord just intervened and prompted the person riding with her to ask, “Are your headlights on?” Guess what? They weren’t. Without any hesitation, she immediately turned on her lights and her drive down the streets and interstate thoroughfares became easier, and safer. All she had to do was, let there be light.

This morning you are heading to church, and you will hear a word from the God. Don’t just hear from a physical perspective, but listen to the specific message that the Lord has sent on this specific day and process it through your being until it serves as a lamp to your feet and a light on your path as you travel through various spaces and places in life during this upcoming week, Like the driver above, your way will be easier, and your being will be safer. Other will benefit too!  Trust me!

Now, enough said! Get going! Make your way into the house of the Lord this morning. Be attentive and you will add to your ability to walk in the light every day of this coming week. That’s important because you will gain applicable wisdom from the word of God today, and you as a believer will be better in terms of fitting Jesus’ similitude that applies to you. Let there be light! Be blessed!

Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16 The Message Bible)

Committed to the climb,
