“Wine is a mocker, intoxicating drink a brawler, and whoever is intoxicated by it is not wise.” (Proverbs 20: NASB)
Now before anyone reading this perchance, is ready to skip it not believing that all Scripture is profitable. Keep readying. You watch all the commercials about the various beers, wines, and liquors. So, keep reading.
Most states in the United State do not have liquor laws, exception those related to consumption by minors and a stipulation of certain specifies situations. However, the verse above is a good one to pull out and be reminded that the state of our faith and our position in the Lord give us some “laws” to follow.
Look at them! (1) Wine is a mocker. (2) Intoxicating drinking a brawler. (3) Whoever is intoxicated by it is not wise. That’s how the NASB puts it. The Message Bible says, “Wine makes you mean, beer makes you quarrelsome—a staggering drunk is not much fun.”
Commercials advise you to drink carefully, I admonish you to act wisely. Many disturbances, disgruntlements, divisions, declining health issues, and devious behaviors can be avoided. Have a great week! Stock your shelves? Uh, no! Stock your souls! Be blessed!
“Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people).” (Ephesians 5:15 Amplified Bible, Classic Version)
Still committed to the climb
