LOOKING FOR THE LOST

“Or imagine a woman who has ten coins and loses one. Won’t she light a lamp and scour the house, looking in every nook and cranny until she finds it? And when she finds it you can be sure she’ll call her friends and neighbors: ‘Celebrate with me! I found my lost coin!’ Count on it—that’s the kind of party God’s angels throw every time one lost soul turns to God.” (Luke 15:8-10The Message Bible)

Evangelism? We can knock on doors. We can send out mailers to areas that surround our church and beyond. We can keep trying to convince fellow co-workers at our place of employment to turn back to God and His church. Social media is a vehicle by which we can reach out to people who live in places far and near. We can do all that and look to heaven and pray to God that He will open the hearts of those who remain obstinate and outright ignore our open invitations to get right with God. But perhaps we should start right in our own homes and the houses where our children who have joined the missing generation from a church perspective, not realizing the impact that their lostness will have on their own children and even on generations to follow.

Perhaps we should “scour the house,” yes, starting our search for the lost within our four walls. Light your lamp and start searching! Positive results can be attained!  Your persistent search can bring someone from “lost” to “found!” Them you can celebrate along with the angels in heaven! Friend, let us begin looking for the lost, today! Start your looking where you are living! Post the words written by W.L. Thompson in 1880, somewhere where everyone in the house or who may enter your domain can see them as they enter a common area.  Be blessed!

“Softly and tenderly, Jesus is calling,
calling for you and for me.
See, on the portals he’s waiting and watching,
watching for you and for me.

Come home, come home.
You who are weary come home.
Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
calling, O sinner, come home!

Committed to the climb,

Mark L. King
