MAKE THE CALL

In movies where a major decision has to be made affecting a large population, you have heard the phrase, “Make the call.” In professional basketball, players who are in disagreement with a call made by the official extend their hands upward and move their fingers in a circular motion, convinced that the referee must reverse a decision on a play and “Make the call,” the correct call. Wives who gave their husbands ample time to tackle what the latter feels is an easy “do-it-yourself” repair, at times too many minutes, hours, or days pass by. Frustration sets in or a truthful realization moves the patient spouse to suggest, in a persuasive, powerful, piercing voice. “Make the call! A professional is needed!” Husbands not wanting to make the decision of which outfit their spouse should wear when asked to choose one wisely say, “Both of them look good on you. You “Make the call.”

Do I have your attention yet? I hope so! Why? Because I want to ask you to “Make the call” today. Call someone who has missed the assembly of the saints, not to inquire why or carry on some type of holier-than-thou inquisition, but rather to just let them know you care about them and have been thinking about them and praying for them. You see, we talk about church family, but if one of our brothers or sisters is missing from the assembly, shouldn’t we at least let them know we were thinking about them? Well then, “Make the call.”  Make at least one person feel better and not forgotten. I agree with the quote above and the closing verse below.

I know that I am “Not the boss of you,” but let me plead with you one more time to “Make the call.” Be blessed!

“So then, while we [as individual believers] have the opportunity, let us do good to all people [not only being helpful, but also doing that which promotes their spiritual well-being], and especially [be a blessing] to those of the household of faith (born-again believers).” (Galatians 6:10 The Amplified Bible)
